evil

Post by boxy » Thu Jul 01, 2010 7:37 pm

Jon Venables, now a young man, in his "prime", has been returned to prison, after getting a second chance after murdering a toddler when he was himself a young child. He was caught with child pornography.

Time to throw away the key, now that he's shown himself to be a major concern as an adult?

We agree on something, why on earth as a society did we release him in the first place. At early age this child would have been torturing cats or some other defenseless animals and it progressed from there. There has to be a early warning detection scheme that could be put in place to prevent this type of thing happening but unfortunately civil libertarians scream long and loud when they try to bring in any screening process.

The problem with "early warning detection schemes" is that we don't punish people for being potential lawbreakers. We punish actions, not potential. And it's not a new thing. It's all to do with centuries of belief in free will, and the belief that the human spirit can overcome our baser natures.

But yeah, anyway, once someone has made it clear enough, by say, killing a toddler, and perusing kiddy porn... bin 'em
