I'm sorry you waited around with bated breath for a response Nom but I know from past experience when the situation is reversed the responses rarely come and I had things to do which I considered to be more important.

Up until recently Gladys was doing a good job imo. I'm in two minds about the now. Now Mick Fuller is calling in the Army and whilst that is a fascist infringement on our rights something has to be done about these ethnic enclaves in our west and south west who refuse to do the right thing and are causing all the problems for the rest of Sydney and have done so from the start. I'd shuffle them all out to the desert and let Sydney get on with things the way we normally do. Or throw a net over west and south west Sydney tie it down and keep them in. There you go rip into that one!

You can't possibly shut down all construction. Construction covers a wide and varied field and also includes private building/renovation practices. Carpenters, Joiners, Project Managers, Site Managers, Apprentices, Plumbers, Inspectors, Estimators, Surveyors, Architects, Landscapers, general Labourers, Electricians, Engineer, Roofers etc. I could go on but you can get the picture. Tens of thousands more jobs than it would take to build a few quarantine facilities which, incidentally, I think is a good idea.

ScoMo stuffed up on forethought and the vaccine purchase and rollout. That's not on Gladys though. 6,500 Aussies overseas, many of whom only want to be Aussies when it suits them, have been flown into Aus weekly for over a year. Somehow their stranded numbers never seem to reduce though and I find that extremely odd. NSW is still taking on about half of the whole and I don't agree with Gladys there at all.

I also think it's a good idea to send those on the dole to pick fruit for our farmers.

As circumstances change opinions obviously change as well wouldn't you agree? None of this is set in stone.

Happy now?
Thankyou...
And you are quite right about construction... I only considered it because I saw how quickly it was shut down. It would be easier to have a team from each state to do the work.

As to changing circumstances... they don't change exactly, as we are in this pandemic and that is the circumstance for the next few years... or longer, given that this a man-made virus.
Happy now?
No! Billy is too scared to form an opinion... Too scared of Nommy.
But not you and nor should you be.
Thank you! :rose

The circumstances don't change but the opinions do as we muddle through this and that's pretty much what we are doing. Muddling.

The entire topic of what would you have done...what would you have
not done is entirely ludicrous...
BO, NDP and anyone else can voice opinions about this until the cows come home....
They are all with the benefit of HINDSIGHT....
A classic example is the use of private security guards in Melbourne...
We all say oh....I wouldnt have done that....but its all with the benefit
of hindsight...
The same with the limo driver and the Ruby Princess fiasco...
Oh I would have done this...no...I would have done that....
All with the benefit of hindsight.....
Waste of time giving opinions...
Like a game of football....
We would have won if I replaced Fred earlier...he wouldnt have missed
that tackle because he was tired...a fresher player would have made the tackle...
Would have...could have.....
Its all a waste of time....
Whats done is done and the political grubs have fucked it up...
End of story....
To discover those who rule over you, first discover those who you cannot criticize...Voltaire
Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...

NSW has recorded another 170 cases of coronavirus in the 24 hours to 8.00pm last night.

There were 42 people active in the community while infectious and a further 10 who were active for part of their infectious period.

Of these new cases, 77 were linked to a known case or cluster but 93 remain under investigation.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian issued a warning to anyone thinking of attending another anti-lockdown protest in Sydney tomorrow following last week's illegal demonstration.

"Your actions will hurt, forget about the rest of us, but you could be taking the disease home and passing it on to your parents, your siblings, your brothers and sisters or anybody you might have limited contact with," she said.

"Do not give those you love the most a death sentence."

Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said anyone who comes to protest in Sydney tomorrow can expect to be met by 1,000 police officers.

"This is such an important time for New South Wales in terms of winning the battle against the virus and coming into town to protest is not the answer," he said.

More than 95,000 tests were conducted yesterday.

There are currently 187 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 58 people in intensive care, 24 of whom require ventilation.

More to come.

EXCLUSIVE: Bombshell leaked audio captures Scott Morrison saying 'the time will come' when only the fully-vaccinated may be allowed into bars and restaurants while those who refuse the jab stay locked down - but major changes are needed first

In audio obtained exclusively by Daily Mail Australia, the PM discussed lockdown
Agreed with a proposal of cafes and pubs opening only to vaccinated patrons
Said idea can be looked at when more of Australia's population are fully jabbed
Will 'very soon' start setting vaccination targets on how to get to the next level

By Kylie Stevens For Daily Mail Australia

The time will arrive when Australians fully vaccinated against coronavirus will enjoy more freedoms than their anti-jab counterparts, Scott Morrison has revealed.

The Prime Minister hinted at bringing in restrictions for Australians who refuse to get the vaccine, keeping them out of venues such as pubs and restaurants during a conference call with constituents from the Sutherland Shire on Thursday night.

In audio obtained by Daily Mail Australia, voters from the Cook electorate in Sydney's south grilled their federal MP on a host of pandemic topics from the country's bungled vaccine rollout to more support for businesses crippled by a fresh horror wave of the virus in New South Wales.

One fully-vaccinated constituent called Steve from Cronulla said he was frustrated that he was in lockdown despite answering the call to get vaccinated many months ago.

He said more Australians would get the jab if support was given to businesses such as cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs by allowing them to open to fully-vaccinated patrons only.

In a remarkably candid answer, Mr Morrison agreed the proposal should be looked at once more of Australia's population is vaccinated and the worst of the current NSW outbreak is over.

So for all you anti-vaxers:

you'll have to get it or you won't be able to function in society.

They are all with the benefit of HINDSIGHT....
Riddle me this...
How do I know that pandemics take approximately 3 and a half to run its course?
How do I know that quarantine is the only practice which works?
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
George Santayana

I mourn for those societies existing mostly in a perpetual present tense.
They know know nothing!
History, for them is merely someone else's happenstance.
Heaven forbid that they might learn from it!
We should count our blessings, but we should not count ourselves lucky—at least not in equal measure. We have to make our own luck, as all survivors do. If Marcus Aurelius had his choice, he would not have chosen to lead in crisis. In fact, he wouldn’t have chosen to lead at all. He wanted to be a philosopher, not emperor. And that was “the essential tragedy of Marcus Aurelius,” biographer Frank McLynn wrote. “No man could have been less equipped to deal with the crisis that now broke over the empire.”

Yet, like all great heroes, he surprised everyone by rising to the occasion. He had no ego, and had a keen eye for surrounding himself with brilliant public servants. As McLynn explains, Marcus Aurelius’s “shrewd and careful personnel selection” is worthy of study by any person in any position of leadership. He searched for and brought in the best. He broke the mold and filled his staff with talent, not aristocrats or cronies. He actually listened to advice. He empowered people to make decisions. He hired Galen, the most famous physician and polymath of antiquity, to lead medical lectures and anatomy demonstrations, wanting to elevate “the intellectual tone” of his court. It was Galen who he empowered to lead the efforts to combat the plague, the smartest medical mind of his time.

Once his team was in place, Marcus shifted his focus to the growing economic crisis.

CDC document warns Delta variant appears to spread
as easily as chickenpox and cause more severe infection

By Paul LeBlanc, Maggie Fox and Elizabeth Cohen, CNN

Updated 0306 GMT (1106 HKT) July 30, 2021

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/29/poli ... index.html

Washington (CNN)The Delta coronavirus variant surging across the United States appears to cause more severe illness and spread as easily as chickenpox, according to an internal document from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The document -- a slide presentation -- outlines unpublished data that shows fully vaccinated people might spread the Delta variant at the same rate as unvaccinated people.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky confirmed the authenticity of the document, which was first reported by The Washington Post.

"I think people need to understand that we're not crying wolf here. This is serious," she told CNN.

"It's one of the most transmissible viruses we know about. Measles, chickenpox, this -- they're all up there."

You'll see stories of unvaccinated patients in hospitals,
as they're lying in bed dying from Covid-19, they're asking,
'Doc, can I get the vaccine?' The doctors have to say, 'Sorry, it's too late.' "

Do NOT visit grandma: Dire warning to families as beloved woman in her 80s dies from Covid in the same home where an illegal gathering to mourn a DIFFERENT family member saw 28 catch the virus

Two more people have tragically died in Sydney after contracting coronavirus
The two latest victims were a man and a woman who were both aged in their 80s
The woman has been linked to a family gathering where 28 people were infected
It comes after two other deaths, including a 38-year-old woman, on Sunday
There have now been 10 fatalities linked to Sydney's Indian Delta strain outbreak

By Levi Parsons For Daily Mail Australia

Sydney's latest coronavirus victim, a woman in her 80s, was found dead at the same western Sydney home where an illegal gathering last weekend spread Covid to 28 people.

The gathering was investigated by police after more than half of the 50 attendees caught the virus, with a large family group understood to have met to grieve a relative.

In a cruel twist of fate, it seems that very same gathering in Pendle Hill has resulted in the death of another family member.

She was one of two people who died on Monday from coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths in NSW from the recent outbreak, which began on June 16, to 10 as a further 18 people fight for their lives on ventilators.

NSW Health confirmed the other victim was a man, also aged in his 80s, who was pronounced dead at Campbelltown Hospital.
