Be at your most careful when you tilt it off 90deg, that's when they start to grab and buck, and eat fingers.

I have no expectation I'll be needing to tilt. Normal angle cuts are a breeze.
Also, when I set up for a cut, I use clamps to hold the wood in place, so that the only thing my hands/fingers are in contact with is the trigger/handle.

My favourite powertool is a power planer. Mine can be adjusted to be so fine it can take of a layer of paint.
