We are supposed to stay below freezing for an entire week. We are expected 4-7 inches of snow and freezing rain. I'm going to make sure my parents house is winterized and that they have enough food and water before the rain comes after my job this morning.

Nasty weather. I can't even imagine freezing rain. We had a bit of sleet in my area once when I was a kid but now I can't even remember when I last even saw a frost.

You should visit Canberra occasionally. We still get sleet and frosts and used to get snow (enough to make a snowman) when I first moved here in the 80s. I love seeing the snow on the Brindabella mountains in Winter. :bgrin

Power is out for a lot of North Texas. Our power has been out for a couple of hours. We are staying in bed, cooking on the gas stove, and burning wood in the fireplace. Its -14C here. Its -22C in Kansas where my granddaughter is.

Power is back on. They are doing rolling blackouts to keep from overloading the grid. MT has a DC powered electric blanket in her pickup. She left it on the other day and now her battery is dead. My son is jump starting it and recharging the battery. I'm working on line when I'm not playing around on line.

I've skied in that temperature, but it was miserable. The wind chill was -50F and the wind was blowing all of the loose snow off the mountain. I ended up skiing on bare ice. I went home a little early that day.

I was stationed in Denver for the Winter of 89-90 for technical training. I rented skis for the whole season and kept them in my room. We would drive up to the mountains and ski every Saturday and Sunday. Lift tickets were typically $12-15 back then when we bought them on the military base. That was a fun Winter.

First up, thank you most sincerely for converting F to C. Most respectful and considerate. I was the one that bitched about it and you were the one who listened, took it on board and now acting on it That good sir is most decent of you. :rose

I do hope you and yours get through this disaster.... I have heard that some water may be/ will be contaminated due to overuse as people are running taps at a drip to avoid frozen pipes... so water dams are low.

I have also heard that some peeps are dying and being hospitalized from carbon monoxide poisonings. Very Sad.

Stay safe... glad you have an open fire.

It's ridiculously easy to convert F to C. Take away 30 then halve what you have left and you get a close but rough idea.
