Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders announced on Wednesday he would suspend his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, bringing to an end a comeback bid four years in the making that saw him, briefly, become the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
But it was not meant to be.
“Together we have transformed American consciousness as to what kind of nation we can become,” Sanders said in livestreamed remarks from his home in Burlington, Vermont, where he has been in isolation for nearly a month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After outlining what he called the victories of his campaign—advocating for minimum wage increases, universal healthcare, free college education and environmental justice, and railing against corporate influence in politics, mass incarceration and concentration of wealth among the richest people—Sanders said that he had made the “difficult and painful” decision that, despite his success among younger voters, victory was “virtually impossible.”
“This battle for the Democratic nomination will not be successful, and so today, I am announcing the suspension of my campaign,” Sanders said, congratulating former Vice President Joe Biden on becoming the party’s nominee-in-waiting.
Sanders also pointed to the coronavirus pandemic, which has wreaked havoc on the primary calendar and put voters at risk of infection, as another reason for dropping out.
“I cannot in good conscience continue to mount a campaign that cannot win, and which would interfere with the important work required of all of us in this difficult hour,” Sanders said. The Vermont senator vowed to stay on the ballot in upcoming primary states in order to gather delegates, a move he said will allow progressives to exert “significant influence over the party platform and other functions” at the Democratic National Convention............continued

He said he was keeping his delegates though so I am not so sure he is totally pulling the plug and he also said he was suspending his campaign not ending it. I think everyone is a bit confused about this?

Not confusing at all.....if yer familiar with American Politics....especially Presidential Politics.....
He's keeping his delegates so when it comes time for the DNC to write their platform, he & his misguided miscreants have more leverage when they attempt to insert their Socialistic planks/agendas into the democ-RAT Platform.
Being Bernie is remaining on all the remaining State Ballots, Sleepy Joe might fall from grace via some ungodly gaff(s), & that would leave Bernie still in the thick of it to rescue his Phoenix from the Political Ashes......pull his acorns out from the fire.....

Bernie was unfortunately never going to succeed. Americans have been indoctrinated to fear anything with label of "Socialism" on it. Trump now is facing his real opponent in Joe Biden. I wish Biden all the luck in the world, he'll need it when going up against Trump and his Mafia like crew.

I must admit I don't fully understand how the delegate thing works.
Bernie's a lazy progressive and hasn't worked a day in his life. He's been in politics for decades and has had only 3 bills passed ... naming Post Offices.
He gets paid off, keeps the cash, more than likely gets another house from the DemiComs and doesn't have to think about hard work.
I think he is getting just what he wants and he's set for life.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
