Should we have a full lock down - stage 4?

My opinion -

even a full lock down won't stop it as many people
will carry it with no symptoms.
They will then spread it again when the lock down is over.
You would need to test every person in Australia
and there aren't enough test kits and the logistics
would be impossible plus the tests are not 100% reliable.

The only thing that could stop this is a vaccine which
is at least 18 months away.
The Coronavirus is similar to a common cold and we've
never developed a vaccine for that as it changes all the time.
There could even be 2 or more different strains of the Coronavirus in the world.
Some say that the one in Italy is so bad because it's
a stronger strain than the one in China.
The virus has already mutated.

Nothing is going to stop it. They are just trying to slow it down and spread it over a longer period so that our hospital system doesn't get overwhelmed and crash.

It's a little inconvenient and I am a bit bored but, as we are just heading into winter, I am happy with what they are doing.

Daniel Andrews - the Victorian Premier has now ordered $1.3 billion worth of
ICU beds complete with respirators.
2000 of them will go to the Exhibition building in Melbourne as a temporary hospital.
Another 2000 are for existing hospitals making 4000 ICU beds.
I don't know where he's going to get all that equipment but
good on him for trying.

The US has temporary hospitals in store. Well New York did until that idiot Cuomo decided to sell them off in 2011. We should have such things too.

Hopefully we'll never need all those extra hospital beds.
We had early lock downs and contact tracing.

You could set up beds and ventilators in a gymnasium. If you can hold off the virus for long enough, we may be able to loan you equipment after our peak subsides. We are coming into Summer and the need should go down in a couple of months.

I'm sure we'll need them back for next year, but it could get you over the hump.
