Moral is - if you are the victim of a home invasion don't fight or you could be:
charged with murder,
lose your job,
lose your house,
go to jail &

and receive no compensation.

with the intention of making a citizens arrest.

Yes but I remember in Melbourne many years ago a man charged with murder after
a huge knife fight with a home invader in his own house.
The charges were dropped.

However - the lesson is that it's not worth being a hero and
chasing a home invader down the street.
