Poor Gal !

From the department of unsolicited advice: Should you, after this horror trip, ever leave home again, DO NOT fly Thai International ! They have become a shocking airline - except for their excellent wines - and seeing the condition of their planes, one needs every drop one can get to calm one's nerves ..

Not a baseball fan myself, but that Ken Burn's series is worth watching. Can't he play it on a PC?
I just rang SBS and here are the instructions

Google the brand and model number of your DVD player and select "region-free". Then it tells you what buttons to press and you can play it. :D

I didn't like baseball either but that series was superb. He can't watch it on a PC - he has macular degeneration and needs a huge TV.

Machi - all airlines seem to have gone to crap, except possibly Emirates. I hear awful reports of BA and Qantas has become an embarrassment. Virgin is pretty good domestically, and my opinion of Jetstar is unprintable. I think our flight yesterday probably left half-full - there were lots of people left behind.
The better I get to know people, the more I find myself loving dogs.

Thanks Skip. It wasn't pretty. And I didn't even get an Easter egg.

Let me know if that works. Always thought one had to buy a "region-free" DVD player ... anything by Ken Burns is excellent: Mark Twain, Frank Lloyd Wright, Civil War ... and the one about that black boxer from a century ago, can't think of his name ...

Call me prejudiced, but somehow the name "Emirates" conjures (up?) some rather unpleasant pics in my tiny mind..e.g. full-on chador, child-brides, women not allowed to travel without a male member of their family, not allowed to drive etc. And, being in love with Australia, I'm really sad to see what looks like the decline of Qantas. '

One more thing to say though in favour of Thai International: there is lots of space on their flights, so your chances of getting 2 or 3 seats to stretch out during the night are rather big.
