Public service report to bring sweeping reform
A Federal Government report due out today is expected to provide momentum for major changes across the public service.
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet chief Terry Moran will hand down his plan to reform the public service after conducting a six-month review.
Submissions have highlighted the need for better service delivery and better collaboration between public service agencies, as well as more investment in the workforce to improve learning, development and retention.
The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) says the main priorities should be proper resourcing to deal with major issues such as education, health and climate change ..

I think we should wait and see what the suggested changes are before jumping to pre-emptive judgments.

Wait for what? It's already started. Various agencies are merging into mega one stop shops. Centrelink/Medicare/Child Support; Disability Employment Services/ Rehabilitation Services; Job Service Providers/ Pre-vocational and training providers... and so it goes.Senexx wrote:I think we should wait and see what the suggested changes are before jumping to pre-emptive judgments.
Oh hey... here's something new for those of you on New Start... I'm pretty sure I can spill the beans... NO MORE FORTNIGHTLY FORMS AS AT JULY... if we can get our systems right by then that is... and we are working on it. It's a part of the improving services initiatives coming through. It comes at a cost though... intensive 30 minute discussions on why you aint gotta job yet.

Coming from a place of near complete ignorance when it comes to public service organisations: Is this ^^^ good or bad?
