Mining magnate chips in for political ads

Queensland billionaire Clive Palmer has given the WA Nationals' federal election campaign a major boost, by donating $100,000 for political advertising.

Mr Palmer made the donation at the party's state conference in Albany last night.

The WA Nationals have launched campaign advertisements which promise to claw back money from the Commonwealth for regional projects in WA.

Mr Palmer says he will pay for 20 television advertisements a week from now until when the election is held.

"I've been a member for 41 years and one day of the National Party," he said ..
