I wouldn't feel good about shooting and killing that guy.
Maybe if he was given $50 he would have walked out happy?
I'd rather lose $50 than have a person's death on my conscience forever.
The problem is that there's not enough social security in America.
Maybe that guy was hungry or couldn't pay his rent or electricity bill?
America is a shit society if you're out of work and even people who do work
often get below poverty money.
You can't expect them to just lie down in the gutter and die -
in the richest country in the world.

Agreed. I wouldn’t want to kill anybody, but I won’t ignore a threat. The dead guy made the threat when he pulled a gun out of his pocket. The same could be said if I drew my gun in public, and I am licensed to carry in 32 states. I think showing the shooting would act as a deterrent. I would limit the showing to ways that are unlikely to be seen by kids.

I don't know what to say.

I’m happy for the dead guy’s future victims. Anybody who continually tries to earn an honest living is going to succeed, even if it’s by his friends helping him out. There is no excuse for crime and especially for threatening the lives of others. I feel sorry for him, but he did it to himself. Who’s to say that he wasn’t about to rob someone of their last dollar and force them into a life of crime by your scenario?

He didn't shoot the robber over the money. He shot the robber over the threat on his own life. I don't know why the robber did what he did. I guess the Marine could go live in another country if he is not happy here, but I doubt that's the case.

Do you think black people can't help their situation? I know several black people who are very successful and very conservative. They are engineers, nurses, teachers, business owners, ...... These people living in the ghettos are there because they are lazy or they think somebody owes them something. I don't owe anybody, black or white, what's in my wallet or my life. I've worked hard and smart to make sure that both are valuable to myself and those around me.

As far as the kids in the ghetto, blame it on their parents. I waited until I was married and could afford children before we made them. I worked my way through college and worked long hours to support my family. I avoided drugs and missed out on a lot of fun times because I was too busy being responsible. It has paid off and I'm not going to give it up for anybody who ruined their lives and the lives of others around them. I'm happy to help others, but it will be on my terms and in my timing.

Not everyone in a black ghetto is lazy.
I don't blame some of them for getting into crime.
They don't care if they die tomorrow because their lives are so miserable.
Even the drugs they take is just a form of escaping briefly from their predicament.
I don't know what the answer is -
it would have better if the founding fathers of the USA had
never brought slaves from Africa to America.
Now they just multiply like rabbits even though they know there
is not going to be a good life for those kids.

I believe you misunderstand the situation, it isn't poverty that motivates this kind of crime. It is a whole different outlook on their life in the Hood, victimizing those weaker than them is acceptable. Whether they finished any level of lower education, many are functionally illiterate and if they actually benefit from time in the classroom they play the fool for the benefit of those they interact with. They are not taught to see opportunity, they are taught to believe those different from them, mostly the white devils plot to keep them down.

There are far too many social programs available so that some people choose to never learn how to stand on their own! The few I know taking advantage of the Welfare system are fully capable of working at a job with fair pay. The two I know best are a lazy white man, almost 40 and a just as lazy Hispanic woman almost fifty. Each could be earning $12 to $20 an hour and if they applied themselves their employer could offer them more money to take on more responsibility. A black person in this country will be offered employment over a white one every time even if they can barely learn the job!
