Personally, I am unsure why people are so frightened of facing the courts to justify their actions. IF they were right and IF they were justified in shooting the criminals, they will be cleared. If they weren't, they will suffer the weight of the law. Having the courts sort it out is much better than having police/public prosecutors sort it out and often getting it wrong.
LAWYERS Police also LIE ... apparently.
Personally, the ONLY time I have been in Court was for my Divorce in 1982 ... it took 4 minutes, cost $350. The Judge/Magistrate had words with my Solicitor (who was young) and berated him on some minor technical thing.
Fortunately, the Law Firm allowed me to pay off the 350 bucks at $2.50 a month.
This WAS 1982.

Oh look, there's a video that contains the 911 call of the guy who blasted the three young burglars.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QesUgAjVsE
Here again, we see that we can safely predict a 0 percent recidivism rate for the recipients of this hearty salutation from the home's defender.
Seems the female getaway driver was the mastermind (so to speak) of the ingenious crime and thought the home was unoccupied at the time. Whoopsy, guess not!
Ah, the hazards of the trade ...
She is being tried on 3 counts of murder. The guy defending his home is free, as he should be.
In Australia the home owner would be
charged with 3 counts of murder.
In Australia, the law applies to everybody. In the US, the criminals have fewer rights than the house owners, Bobby. In Australia, the home owner must account for their actions before a court. In the US, the Police or the DA will decide if the home owner was justified.

Even if they win the case it will cost them their house in legal fees.

Even if 3 armed people break into his house?
It's highly likely that the owner would be charged.
He would then need an expensive legal firm to try and beat the charges
that would cost his life savings, house & everything.
He'd end up destitute, living under a bridge, and dumpster diving for food.

Depends on how much you value your freedom, Bobby. Is it worth more than your material possessions? I believe so. What about you?

Brian - you missed the point -
it's not fair that you can win a court case but lose your house.
It happens every day and is why I have no faith in the corrupt legal system.

You get what you pay for, Bobby. If you want to pay a shyster who works cheaply, why do you expect that you'll win a court case? As much as you might dislike it, the lawyers who win tend to charge large amounts of dosh.
The courts were created to answer legal questions. Whether or not you were justified in shooting another person is one such question. If you're not willing to face the courts, well, what can I say?

I pay $15/ month for legal defense , just in case I have to use my gun in self defense. I’m covered as long as I am in a place where it is legal for me to carry when the shooting occurs.

I guess it wont be long before we see white women walking in to a group with an AK47
over their shoulder and blasting away.......females seem to follow anything thats negative dont they?..
Oh sure, Cods ... women are just so weak-minded and compliant, especially the white ones. It would be far better to dress them in burqas and make them stay home unless accompanied by a male relative, don't you think?
seriously you didnt see Thelma and Louise I guess....
you want all women to behave like that?....
god your thicker than I gave you credit for...
only a few have followed in the footsteps of white male serial killers. but never the less they have followed....
some women do have a penchant for following in the footsteps of evil...
I dont think I have ever seen anything so ridiculous as what you suggest is a better way to treat women...
to prevent them choosing that route.....
You seem unfamiliar with the term "sarcasm."
Go ahead and look it up; I'll wait.
