I concur with interest only loans.

Several years ago, I was given a great LSL and bonus payout.
My plan was to invest in a couple of properties to fund my future.
With the cash I had, I could easily put down 1/2 The cost of two properties and borrow the rest, that would be covered by the rents collected.

But the banks woukd have nothing of it
Three banks approached all had the same policy.
One property was it enough, I needed two to get the rent I needed to fund my purchase.

In the end, I gave up and just put heaps into my super and had an overseas holiday and bought a few things.

The banks, senior public servants and politicians are screwing us ....big time.

The real danger of interest only loans, if you don't make a profit or the house burns down, you are screwed, but the banks still get their money.

Was that before the Royal Commission? If so and on the bare facts you have provided, because you had 50% equity in bricks and mortar, it is hard to see why you were knocked back. Were you given any reason?

Not bank policy, they said.
But they were willing to give us enough to have up to 4 interest only loan properties.

because energy giant Petrobas refuses to refuel them because they are afraid of US sanctions....

The British navy is apparently going to be escorting all British ships through the Strait or Hormuz. If there is more trouble the countries who will lose out the most are China, Japan, South Korea and India which is where most of the oil is headed.

Maybe they should be working on improving the land based pipelines which can carry oil beyond the Strait.

International conventions give ships - including military vessels - the right of passage through a state's territorial waters.

Iran is allowed to act in its own territorial waters - but not at the expense of the right of passage for foreign ships.
