Neither my kid or any of his friends know where to buy an illegal gun. Only criminals deal with black market guns. Your opinion of the availability of guns to children is misguided.

Only the criminals have guns on the streets of Sydney and crime is escalating, same with Melbourne. I know I will get slapped down for this but the criminals are also people who should not even be here. Instead of having to spend many more millions watching them and building more jails to try to keep them from radicalising other prisoners, I would be deporting them.

The UN has no authority over anyone, Tex. Countries agree to a Treaty or a Convention and then ratify it and pass it into law. The UN doesn't control countries, it is the other way 'round. The problem is, many countries focus on the parts of the UN which makes decisions they don't like, which have no power over them, rather than where the real power resides in the UN - the Security Council. People assume that the UN is one organisation, all with one purpose. In reality it is one organisation, made up of multiple parts all with different purposes.Texan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 11:26 pmI like my Austrian guns. My wife's Brazillian Bersa is her favorite. They have, well shall we say, a rather biased view of anything to do with gun control measures. In reality, the UN Treaty had nothing to do with private firearms ownership, it was primarily aimed at the trade in firearms.
Will the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty infringe on our right to keep and bear arms?
Trump has effectively kyboshed the idea that firearms should not be traded between nations. He has effectively ended the US only firearms trade in the US which the treaty promised. Now, wasn't Trump originally for the promotion of US industries? He's now removed the most effective barrier to the trade of European firearms within the US Market. I wonder if the US firearms makers will be thanking him in two years time?
The UN has no businesses having any authority over my country. It's a slippery slope that I don't intend to go down. Especially since we are paying 22% of their budget.

You cannot deport your own citizens. Black Orchid. Crime is not, BTW, overall, escalating. It has been decreasing since the establishment of the ABS, when it was first cohesively reported, Australia today is safer than it was at the turn of the 20th century...Black Orchid wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 10:39 amOnly the criminals have guns on the streets of Sydney and crime is escalating, same with Melbourne. Perhaps it is safe for you overall in Podunk, Brian, but our two biggest cities are quite another story and crime most certainly IS escalating in both.

I'm sure the North Shore is a real hotbed of crime, hey, Black Orchid?

We never ratified the treaty because it would be political suicide to support this idiocy. 2016 alone should tell you that. Trump is changing the political landscape and RINOs had better get on board or they will be left behind. Americans are supporting anybody who goes against the status quo. The vast majority of America wants secure borders, a strong military, and government doing what they were designed to do instead of effecting social change.brian ross wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 10:44 amThe UN has no authority over anyone, Tex.
