Yet another Brilliant Trump Victory

Post by sprintcyclist » Sat Mar 23, 2019 6:52 am

This week, the Trump administration brought America’s attention to a longstanding problem plaguing college campuses: the left’s sustained assault on free speech. Across the country, far too many conservative students are undermined, silenced, and even physically attacked as a result of the toxic culture on our campuses today.

Abigail, a former RNC intern, experienced this firsthand. Late last year, she reached out to Professor Christine Fair at Georgetown University for comment on Fair's tweet that white men “deserve miserable deaths” and “we should castrate their corpses and feed them to swine.”

Fair responded by doubling down on her reprehensible language and harassing Abigail in a long rant online, calling her complicit in an effort to “protect male privilege” and wage a war against women. Unfortunately, it is no longer surprising that an academic in charge of teaching our next generation of leaders could find this appropriate.

This week, President Trump signed an executive order to withhold federal research funding from universities that fail to support free speech on campus. When he announced the move during his CPAC address, the president highlighted Hayden Williams, a student who was physically attacked because he recruited for a conservative organization while on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley.

Universities across America take in tens of billions of federal dollars in research funding every year. The president’s executive order is an important step toward enforcing what these universities should have been doing all along: promoting free speech and encouraging diversity of thought as they conduct their research.

Professors seem to have little concern for students who may disagree with their views. They rail against President Trump, Republicans and the conservative movement as they teach, sending a clear message that other political views are not welcome in their classroom. They espouse “safe spaces” but create a hostile environment for conservative students.

This toxic culture comes at a cost. It stifles free expression and critical thinking. It encourages students to tailor their work to the views of their instructors. It eliminates the debates and discourse that have always been a critical part of the college experience.

Students go to college to broaden their perspectives and deepen their knowledge of the world. Instead, they face an environment in which they are expected to fall in line with the liberal narrative – or else. Look at the violent mobs that continue to drive away conservative speakers to prevent diversity of thought from infiltrating their bubble. In 2017, hundreds of people protested conservative commentator Ben Shapiro’s appearance at UC Berkeley, and several were arrested as the crowd turned violent.

Prominent conservatives continue to be protested, barred or disinvited from speaking on campus – even Republican members of Congress. And when the mobs fail to derail the events, protesters try to de-platform them instead. Speakers have been forced to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for security, all because they dare to publicly express ideas that differ from those of some students, professors and school administrators.

This is devastating to our higher education system. It cheats our nation’s young people out of a meaningful college experience and renders them unprepared for the working world. That’s why President Trump is committed to holding American universities accountable. As he said during Thursday’s signing ceremony, “People who are confident in their beliefs do not censor others. They welcome free, fair and open debate.”

With this new executive order, the administration is making it clear that federal dollars will only go to institutions that are equally committed to upholding an inalienable, constitutional right: the right to freedom of speech for every single American. Our students are our future, and we owe it to them to set them up for success.

I find it shocking the way things are going..here is the proof no such things as FOS..

our education systems should know better...

but they now appear to be the leaders when it comes to silencing different opinions...

I always ask what are they afraid of?...

why has the education system in America become so radicalised?...

It's not just America, Cods, it's worldwide. Our universities are very similar now too. At some universities you can't get your marks (which means you can't pass) if you don't sign up to some stupid 'safe' program or other that basically espouses 'male toxicity''.

It's just that America is fighting back whilst we just sit on our butts and allow it to fester and grow.

I wonder what type of woman breeds with a new age male now.

He cries
He is sensitive
He is weak, so as to not appear stronger than the female
He does not engage in violence

When he is confronted, he backs down whimpering
He cannot protect his mate of children.

Is this Truely what women want?
Is this what we have become?

I'm Truely glad that I'm an old man from the times of chivalry
I am willing and able to protect my mate and children
I am strong, and use that strength, while I have it.

If there is another war
And there will be because mankind is stupid
Australia will be overrun by real men while what passes for men will be hiding behind their females.

Pathetic isn't it?
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

President Donald Trump told reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that the Republican Party would soon be known as the “party of healthcare.” He reiterated that commitment in the Oval Office on Wednesday, claiming Republicans would have a health care plan that is “far better than Obamacare.”
Reporters were skeptical, for two reasons. One is that the Trump administration revealed Monday that it is siding with a lawsuit by Texas and other states that seeks to have all of Obamacare declared unconstitutional. The other reason is that Republicans failed to pass their own health care policy in 2017, thanks in part to a dramatic “thumbs-down” gesture by the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). Nevertheless, Trump has now laid down the gauntlet — which some Republicans, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarty (R-CA), are not happy about.

Still, President Trump already has significant achievements on health care that can be summarized as follows: more choice, lower prices, life-saving drugs.

Here are the top ten.

1. Lower premiums. After the Obama administration oversaw massive double- and triple-digit annual increases in the price of Obamacare, the Trump administration has succeeded in stabilizing prices, which have decreased for many plans — contrary to what many experts predicted. Obamacare is still too expensive, and its deductibles far too high, but Trump fulfilled his campaign promise in 2016 to stop the massive premium increases under the policy.

2. Short-term plans. Obamacare eliminated many cheap, bare-bones, short-term health insurance plans favored by younger people, forcing them to pay huge premiums for coverage they did not need. Some of these plans are 80% cheaper than the cheapest Obamacare plan. President Trump signed an executive order, and promulgated new rules, that expand the length of these plans from three to 12 months, and allow them to be renewed for up to three years.

3. End to individual mandate. President Trump’s tax cut, signed into law in 2017, eliminated the requirement to purchase insurance — the most constitutionally objectionable part of Obamacare. That change saved individuals and families hundreds of dollars per year in IRS fines. And contrary to the predictions of critics, it did not result in the collapse of the system as a whole, as premiums dropped and more insurance providers participated in the system.

4. Group health plans across state lines. President Trump took a crucial step toward fulfilling the Republican promise of allowing people to buy insurance across state lines by signing an executive order in October 2017 that opened the door to employers in the same industry to pool their employees into common Associated Health Plans (AHPs) in different states. The result would be cheaper and better coverage for workers within those industries.

5. Choice for veterans. President Trump signed the VA MISSION Act in 2018, which passed with bipartisan support and expanded options for veterans to obtain health care in the private sector. Trump has also prioritized addressing backlogs within the Veterans Affairs system. His commitment to veterans and first responders is such that even left-wing comedian Jon Stewart acknowledged Trump was doing a good job for 9/11 responders.

6. “Right to try.” In May 2018, President Trump signed the “Right to Try” Act, which allows patients in desperate need to try new, experimental drugs that had not yet been approved by regulators. The law allowed patients to approach manufacturers directly, and limited their liability in the event the drugs did not work as hoped. In addition, the administration focusing on streamlining new drug approvals at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

7. Drug price information. President Trump has presided over the largest decline in drug prices in 46 years, and is proposing measures to lower them even further. In his 2019 State of the Union address, for example, he proposed “requir[ing] drug companies, insurance companies, and hospitals to disclose real prices to foster competition and bring costs way down.” He also proposed eliminating kickbacks to the middlemen in the prescription drug industry.

8. Opioids and fentanyl. The Obama administration failed to deal with the opioid epidemic, even declining to declare a national emergency to stop the proliferation of deadly fentanyl. In contrast, President Trump has made the fight against opioids and fentanyl a priority. His effort to build a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border, and his administration’s tougher border enforcement, have also aimed to improve public health by stopping the drug flow.

9. Better administration. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Wednesday that his administration is doing a better job of administering Obamacare than the Obama administration itself. One way it is doing so is through allowing the states greater flexibility in addressing their insurance markets ” rather than subscribing to the previous administration’s prescriptive one-size-fits-all approach,” wrote Medicare and Medicaid administrator Seema Verna.

10. Support for repeal. President Trump’s enduring commitment to repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a policy that actually works is crucial. The alternative is letting the government take over health care entirely, which Democrats are embracing in the “Medicare for All” policy — which would ban private insurance and limit access to experimental drugs, among other fatal flaws. If not for Trump, Republicans would have given up long ago.

........... When celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti stepped into a Manhattan federal courtroom about 6pm on Monday, he lacked the sass and razzmatazz that had secured his roles as a media darling and vociferous social media foe of Donald Trump.

As usual, Avenatti sported a slate suit, crisp white shirt and powder blue tie, but his smart clothes couldn’t mask the fact that his arrest hours earlier – for allegedly trying to extort more than $20m from Nike – had taken its toll on him.

Michael Avenatti, ex-lawyer for Stormy Daniels, arrested on extortion charges
The one-time lawyer for the adult film actor Stormy Daniels, who claimed she was paid $130,000 by Michael Cohen to keep her alleged affair with Trump secret, was quietly led to a table by US marshals through a side door in this courtroom. Salt-and-pepper stubble on the back of Avenatti’s always-shaved head was more pronounced than during his many media rounds. Avenatti’s lips were pursed in what could have been a tight grin, or perhaps a mark of resignation, and his skin seemed dry.

Prosecutors allege that Avenatti, who had made a splashy and very different appearance with Daniels in the same courthouse less than one year ago, threatened to reveal embarrassing information about the shoe giant, unless the company paid up.

Avenatti, 48, also faces federal fraud charges in California related to alleged embezzlement from a client. ..............
