[Source]Greens Talk to crossbench for no-confidence motion in government over Christmas Island transfers
February 19, 2019 The Australian
The Greens are urging lower house crossbenchers and Labor MPs to back a no-confidence motion in the Morrison government, accusing the Prime Minister of “defying the will of the parliament”.
Greens Leader Richard Di Natale said the government was “giving the middle finger to parliament” by insisting that asylum seekers and refugees be transferred to Christmas Island for medical treatment instead of the Australian mainland following the passage of last week’s medivac bill.
He also turned his fury on Bill Shorten after the Opposition Leader said he was “fine” with refugees receiving medical treatment on Christmas Island, accusing him of caving in to a government scare campaign.
The criticism of Mr Shorten represents a major split in the Greens, crossbench and Labor alliance that passed the medivac bill, with prominent independent MP Kerryn Phelps warning the decision to transfer refugees to Christmas Island was a “subversion of our entire model of representative democracy”.
Speaking this afternoon, Senator Di Natale said the Australian people wanted the “alternative prime minister to stand up and lay out an alternative agenda”.
“They don’t want the alternative prime minister to crumble at the first sign of a bit of pressure,” he said. “All I can say is what a disgrace”.
“We understand that there will be pressure on the Labor Party through this election campaign. And this is a huge test for Bill Shorten and the Labor Party.
“I would say, as a doctor, to Bill Shorten that Christmas Island is simply substituting one offshore detention camp with another. The health care that people receive on Christmas Island will be worse than the health care they currently get on Manus and Nauru.
“The facilities on Christmas Island simply cannot cope with the complex medical needs of many people who have been locked up indefinitely. They can’t cope.
“The legislation that the Labor Party supported was legislation to improve the healthcare of innocent people. Not make it worse. To improve it. This would be a terrible capitulation to a scare campaign run by a government who has no agenda.
“If Bill Shorten caves in to Peter Dutton and Scott Morrison right now this is a terrible sign of things to come.’’
Senator Di Natale said that lower house Greens MP, Adam Bandt, was “talking to members of the crossbench right now”.
“We would consider moving a motion of no confidence if we believed we had the support for that motion. So Adam is talking right now to members of the crossbench.’’
“I call on all members of the crossbench who supported this bill — Scott Morrison has effectively given you the middle finger. He has disregarded you. He has ignored you. He’s treating you with contempt — so I say to members of the crossbench and indeed to the Labor Party this is your time to draw a line in the sand.’ ter Dutton and Scott Morrison right now this is a terrible sign of things to come.’’

WELL PLAYED NAURU........ WELL PLAYED...
Last night the Nauruan Government passed laws that would stop activists doctors in Australia using Skype (telemedicine) to evaluate illegal immigrants online in the hope of getting them transferred to Australia.
It was an insult to Nauruan and Australian medical staff on Nauru to try and bypass their medical assessments.

You know I never even considered they would be able to use Skype to diagnose, assess and evaluate illegal immigrants. What a ridiculous notion. The Mechanic wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:41 pmWELL PLAYED NAURU........ WELL PLAYED...

... and they are expecting some Indian or Chinese shonk to do a Skype assessment from here? It definitely is an insult to the Nauruan and Australian medical staff on Nauru. Dear Bri Bri,
Please show the rookie the way back to the little kiddies playground.
She's learnt from watching how the Greens play, and soiled herself, so you will have to clean her up and wipe her arse.
