Asylum Seekers can go to their LOCAL EMBASSY (Australian, American or whatever) in their country of origin and REGISTER and do the right thing and wait-until-they-are-cleared-via-health and so forth. Then JOIN THE QUEUE.

Those who PAY boat people obviously are not smart enough to do the RIGHT THING and because of their stupidity, have wasted whatever possessions they had.

The "Caravan" walking to the USA are the same. They are NOT looking for asylum, they are looking to FREE whatever. Not a good time to walk into the USA with WINTER on its way ...

Most people who flee their country of origin do so because they fear for their lives or the lives of their family members, Neferti. It is easy to say, "Oh, they can go and register at the Embassy!" Problem is, they don't know that. They are not allowed often to walk the streets of the country in which they are seeking immediate respite. They are deterred from entering the Embassy by the guards often posted around them. These people are fearful. If the Australian Government under Howard had not removed the Immigration officials from the Refugee camps back in 1999 or thereabouts, Asylum Seekers could apply to them for Asylum. Instead, the People Traffickers get to them first, they peddle their lies, they sell them the means to move part way at least to Australia and you lot are constantly surprised that their lies are believed and they would be willing to get onboard leaky boats. These people are scared, they have often been hunted, attacked, some killed. Yet they get no sympathy from the Xenophobes here downunder - all they get is fear, fear that they are going to take over Australia. Yeah, get real.

Except the Australian Immigration Department found by it's own processes that the overwhelming majority of those held in the Pacific Gulags were actually genuine refugees, Cods. A fact that the Government(s) of Australia have chosen to overlook in their effort to demonise people who deserve to be allowed to come to Australia. I gather that your Leftard PM thinks it is a terrific idea. Problem is, if they go to NZ they will just use the "back door" to get into Australia, that's what they want. We do NOT want them. What should happen is that they should be put on a plane (or a slow boat) back to where they came from.
