Re: What's for dinner?
I am in the process of preparing to cook, for tomorrow night's dinner a Pakistani Lamb Curry.
Pakistani Lamb Curry
Ingredients
3tbsp ginger & Garlic paste
1tin tomatoes
1cup sliced onions
1.5kg Lamb Meat
3 Cardamom pods
2 Bayleaf
1 Cinnamon
3 Cloves of Garlic
2tbsp Cumin Powder
1tbsp Garam Masala powder
2tbsp Chilli Powder
1tsp Turmeric
1tbsp Paprika
3tbsp Oil
Salt to taste
Steps:
Heat Oil
Fry onions until softened.
Add whole spices
Add Ginger Garlic paste
Add powdered spices
Add can of tomatoes
Cook for 10 mins until oil splits out
Add Lamb meat
Cook on medium 1 hour stirring occasionally or till meat is cooked.
Personally, I prefer to cook red-meat curries in a Tandor oven. A slow cooker can replace that, with similar effects. I do them over a day or so. That way the meat falls apart and has a lovely flavour in it. I generally find traditionally cooked such curries too tough for my liking.

I wouldnt have thought you would cook a curry in a tandoor, Not very convenient, you would tend to cook tandorr chicken and other kebab type meats

Re: What's for dinner?
That's good enough for a simple meal.
When I'm feeling lazy and down, I simply grab a can of tomato soup
Throw a few herbs and spices in, a dash of cream and sit down and drink it.
Not every meal has to be a gourmet
But I'm looking forward to the weekend
Apple strudel here I come.

Re: What's for dinner?
That is what they are generally used for nowadays. The story goes that when they were originally developed, they were used to cook all sorts of food. They were developed when invaders meant that the villagers had to abandon their village (temporarily). Before the invaders arrived, the villagers had worked out that if they created an underground oven, they could cook their food while it was buried and they were absent. When the invaders had left, the villages would return and dig their ovens back up and eat the food contained in them.

Bar-b-q steak tonight
Steamed vegetables, potato slices seasoned and cooked on the hot plate with oil.
And for dessert........
Drum roll...............
Apple strudel and custard.......YUM YUM
Even the weather is in tune
Nice and cool so that warm strudel and custard will be absolutely perfect.
Made by the missus from scratch.
My mouth doth water.......
