Mechanic, it's not as simple as you sprout.

As someone else here said, there needs to be a trial, and enough evidence for there to be a conviction, and even then, there's the appeal process.

I can tell you now, rape is still grossly under reported crime in Australia, because the victims realise unless there's enough physical evidence, taking the witness stand and enduring the court process is equally harrowing as the crime itself.
Especially so when the victim knows their perpetrator.

I'd like polygraphs to be considered as evidence.

Some perpetrators genuinely believe they're not guilty of rape however, so this is why I believe both victims and defendants should sit them.

If we can send man to the moon, why can't we develop polygraph technology to a point whereby it's considered reliable?

Truthfully, we'd rather not.

rape is rape...
it doesn't have to be proven in a court of law for it to have occurred.

perhaps this isn't a political topic????????????

A sexual assault hypothetical ....

Say a married couple are engaging in regular sex, and the male decides to "mix things up a bit" and penetrate his wife rectally.

She then screams in agony and shock, but rather than withdrawing, the husband doesn't stop until he's finished.

Afterwards the husband realises his error, then either apologises or mocks his wife with remarks like " I'm sorry, was trying to make things more interesting" or " spose ya gunna be a femmo and go to the cops"..... etc etc.

Is this a simple sexual accident or is it rape?

This happened to a good friend of mine, and she didn't report the incident.

His sexual "mistakes" continued and became more degrading, so she eventually left.

Some of this abuse was suggestive, ie, he would constantly request she role play his perverted fantasies, whereby he'd berate her for her non compliance. This is a form of abuse also, yes?

He continued to harass and berate her, claiming she was just too dull in bed, boring, lacking a sense of adventure etc, then after one final non sexual incident only then did she leave.

Much of this sort of stuff goes unreported, because the victim often blames themselves for staying, allowing it to continue.

Define rape.

IF it's to be moved, suggest News & Current Events where crime is specifically mentioned.

And Roach, rape is rape .... absolutely true, but the onus is on the victim to be able to provide the court with enough evidence to have the perp brought to justice.

Only in high profile case's do the courts seemingly take rape claims seriously.

And in these instances, quite often there's usually an ulterior motive, ie compensation, and lots of it whereby the victim has enough money to pay for decent legal representation and plan's to file for legal costs and damages.

But for Mr and Mrs ordinary, she's more likely to decide it's much easier moving on, with counselling etc.

Doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Correct.
