Anyone with Dogs?

Post by Black Orchid » Sun Mar 25, 2018 8:43 pm

PET owners are being urged to return a dog food product after a number of Victoria Police canines fell ill, including one who was euthanased.

Mars Petcare Australia has voluntarily recalled Advance Dermocare dry food, after learning a number of dogs have been affected by megaesophagus, a condition not usually linked to food.

Nine police dog squad members, including one who was euthanased, have been struck down by the condition — an enlargement of the oesophagus. On Sunday, the Herald Sun reported at least two more pet dogs had died after eating the food.

The company has run hundreds of tests on Advance Dermocare and has not found a link to the condition. “Regardless, we are voluntarily recalling these products as a precaution while we work to get to the bottom of the issue as soon as we can,” a spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday.

The condition first emerged in the force in December and several possible causes have already been ruled out.

Investigators are looking at a number of “common factors”. “One of them does include the food that we’re feeding the dogs,” squad Inspector Jon Woodyatt told 3AW Radio on Friday.

People who have bought Advance Dermocare dry dog food in 3kg, 8kg and 15kg bags are being asked to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. No other Advance products are affected by the recall.

My daughter has a dog, Rascal ... must be almost 14 now and he is arthritic. He is the family dog. She doesn't use that brand of dried food. Thankfully. She is trying to ask me what to do ... I avoid, avoid, avoid ...

we are what we eat...

high quality = digestibility ...

less/no "pack filling" (garbage)

no artificial colours and flavours..

feed your dog low quality dry food and watch it lose weight because what it eats does not get digested and comes out the other end... thats why you see some dogs do coloured poo.. and wet.. (think Pal Pedigree and other supermarket dog foods)

it will also be large poo because its undigested ...

high quality food will be digested properly, dryish, and half the size because its digested properly..

so the Dog is getting its Nutrition Properly..

I put one of my dogs down because its condition got so bad as he got older...

then the same thing was starting to happen to another one of my dogs from the same breeder.. I think she was around 10... taking to vets.. trying different dog washes... but she was always skinny and hair staring to fall off.. looking mangey...

then I hit Gold... I had already search this years previous..

High quality dog foods digest to give your dog better Coats and weight...

I was feeding Summa half as much dry food and she put on weight and had the best Coat on her in her life... it was unbelievable!!!!

I had searched for years.. I thought she was getting good food with the "Pedigree" food... but it was a lie and the food was horseshit...

selling this junk food is killing dogs.. slowly... and giving them bad health.. it should be illegal...

oh.. also crap cheap dog foods will give your dogs bad breath... their guts aint right..

Benefits to feeding natural foods include: reduction/elimination of common allergies (often caused by foods but not always diagnosed by vets); reduction in inflammation of joints; stronger/healthier digestive tracts; cleaner/healthier teeth; decreased infections of ears and mouth; less shedding; smaller/firmer stools and a happier, healthier pet!!!
Black Hawk Grain Free Range

The absence of grain makes our food ideal for pets with sensitive dietary needs. It is also a great choice for those choosing to exclude grains from their pet’s diet, to echo the original grain free and protein rich diets their primitive ancestors thrived on in the wild.
