My friend who got the 28 Mbps, signed up for a much higher (more expensive) one, not sure which but he and his son both play online games so they want much more "power" than I do.

Redneck apparently had the NBN installed recently too, haven't asked him what sort of plan he has and how the speed is. Red? Do you want to share? :Hi
Mine is much dearer as it involves keeping my Telstra Foxtel (Satellite)

It starts at $129/month (basic foxtel) + any extra Foxtel packages ($10-$30 each) it includes all calls-- although I notice today the website states payg calls which is bullshit in my case. (maybe they have changed it?)

I did download speed tests before and after and it went from 4Mb/s before to 26Mb/s - six times as fast which is great in my opinion.

Apparently speed goes up to 40Mb/s between 7pm-11pm at night according to the website.

I am supposed to get between 50mbps and 100mbps which to me seems like the minimum is 50mbps, but apparently not so. There is always fine print to cover their asses but to say you will get between 50mbps and 100mbps should mean in even the simplest of terms that 50mbps is the minimum.

Not so!

The bloke who cuts my grass has VDSL/NBN (the old TransACT cable) and with the NBN gets 50 Mbps. His son who lives near Kippax gets 48 Mbps. Both are with iiNet I think.

I have Foxtel and pay through Foxtel and used to have the landline with Telstra, my mobile is with Vodafone ... I don't like to have all my "eggs" in the one basket. Now my landline is VOIP with iiNet.

I don't use the phone (landline) very much and the mobile phone is mostly used to text or for "emergencies". Rarely get calls on the mobile, unless they are wrong number. When asked by people like Foxtel whether I have a mobile phone, I say "Yes, but I am not giving you the number".

I could pay $20 a month to Vodafone for unlimited calls, but that would be a waste of money since I put $30 in and that lasts for about a year. However, if I was going to be away from home for a few weeks I could temporarily change to the $20 a month/unlimited calls, then change back again when I returned, it is "flexible" and I own the mobile phone.

To each their own I guess. I did look at bundling the phone, internet, mobile phone etc ages ago and it would have cost me a LOT more than I was paying ... money better in my pocket than theirs!

you got rid of ADSL and got NBN at an ADSL speed..

how does that make sense?
