Maybe - but perhaps we've already found out most practical applications of science?
I think there is much more to come.
Quantum entanglement one day may allow instant communications at great distances.
New energy sources.
Quantum computers with such power one will have more processing power than all current computers, ad AI and it will be scary.
We don't understand the universe yet.
We don't have a unified theory so none of the current theories are complete, so until then, there is a lot to discover and that will lead to new and potentially high impact applications.
But we have done well to apply what we have found and they are the most practical applications for everyday life. So I expect you are correct.

Yes - I think that the ITER fusion reactor could change the world as we know it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITER
The ITER project aims to make the long-awaited transition from experimental studies of plasma physics to full-scale electricity-producing fusion power stations. The ITER fusion reactor has been designed to produce 500 megawatts of output power for around twenty minutes while needing 50 megawatts to operate.[3] Thereby the machine aims to demonstrate the principle of producing more energy from the fusion process than is used to initiate it, something that has not yet been achieved in any fusion reactor.
Imagine having unlimited energy from deuterium found in simple water?
Humans would basically have their own miniature star on Earth
giving us all the energy we could ever need.

Lockheed Martin has had 6 tests of it's Micro Fusion Reactor.
It will be setting up reactors all over the U.S. in the next 10 years.

Looks really interesting........

Ok. In layman's terms .... what is this thing supposed to do?
Make the Internet faster?
Go on holidays to Mars?
Cure Cancer?
Cull fat people?
Prove that God exists?
What?

In October 2014 Lockheed Martin announced that they would attempt to develop a compact fusion reactor that would fit "on the back of a truck" and produce 100 MW output – enough to power a town of 80,000 people
A portal energy source based on a principles and reactions that occur in the Sun. Put a mini sun on the back of a truck and provide power.
Fusion power. The Sun is a natural fusion reactor, using stellar nucleosynthesis to transform lighter elements into heavier elements plus energy. Fusion power is energy generated by nuclear fusion, or more broadly, the use of that power as an energy source
Make the Internet faster? - It may eventually be a clean (or cleaner) energy that will power the internet. Data centers, networks and computers are using more and more power. Imagine how much Google uses. We need electron for that and the more the merrier.
Go on holidays to Mars? - Would be good to have a power soruce like this on Mars to keep everything running since coal is not an option.
Cure Cancer? - No
Cull fat people? - When the fat bastards forget to maintain it and it explodes - so a chance of that
Prove that God exists? - Proves that we are getting closer to understanding the mind of god (Einstein) but cannot prove her existence.
How's that - Wot?

Yes if you read that you will see just how incredibly small the Fusion Reactors are.
It is thought these reactors will be all across the US within the next 10 years.
There is no radioactive waste in a Fusion reaction just the generation of Helium.

I cannot believe you do not understand the significance of this??????
We are talking about LIMITLESS CLEAN ENERGY PRODUCTION!!!
No more fossil fuels!!
No more CO2 release!!
NO MORE POLLUTION!!
NO MORE RADIOACTIVE WASTE!!!
We are talking about the single most important development in the history of mankind!!

I agree, if we can really pull this off and make them cheap and small enough it will provide the energy needed for the next revolution.
AI robots need power to take over humanity - LOL

Maybe there will some giant fusion reactors?
There could be one power station that could power the whole of Europe or the USA.
