I arrived in Canberra in January 1981 with $300 in the savings account and a 5 year old daughter. I had escaped an abusive husband. I did not get any money from him, not even a stick of furniture. My decision. that way he had nothing to say.

By 1983 I had saved up a deposit to get a house here. By 1993 I owned the house I still live in.

My daughter is working her butt off, far more than I ever did for far less money but she has a useless hubby and a couple of teenagers ...... she also went without to get a deposit .... she is still doing more than anybody should ..... it scares me that she might drop before I do.

Wash your mouth out with soap & water.

You need some justice.
No surprise you voted for an alcoholic blowhard who pilfered a donor liver from someone more deserving of it.

if people want to risk their super.. then thats up to them I guess.....can they only access the part they have contributed??..

I loath Hinch.

Having access to your Superannuation to get a deposit for a million dollar apartment in Sydney? I don't think so.

However, I do agree that buying a house means you MUST go without a lot of stuff to save up the deposit. Even when houses were "cheap" and there was only ONE income earner, they still had to go without to be able to AFFORD the mortgage.

These days, everyone thinks that what you WANT can go on the credit card and if you max that out, The Bank will just give you another one to max out.

I am beginning to wonder whether I should change my Will and leave everything to the RSPCA .... the grandkids will just waste it on "stuff", the SIL will buy another new SUV and my daughter will still not have her new kitchen. I'll be dead so I won't know but it IS a bit of a worry that everything I worked so hard to achieve will be spent on flippant stuff ...... or Lawyers if I disinherit due to the above....

spend it nef.....you could end up in care.....and they get it all before your cold..lolol..I know its not funny...but as you say once your dead its out of your hands......teach your daughter to stand up for herself...if shes earning her own money and not dependent on her partner then tell her to save for her new kitchen independently...just to show him she can do it..my daughter in law has bugger all .. my son is one of these he gotta have the latest and best...they get on fine dont get me wrong.. but it would be so nice to see him put her first once in a while..I love her to bits... and in the past he has asked us to buy her a bra as she was wearing her mothers...its better now she has a good job.. but really!!!!!!!

I have no problem with him having a liver provided he never drinks again.

I don't like Hinch but I see a guy trying to do some good before he goes and for that, I tip my hat.

It may not be as easy as walking away ... but then it might. My neighbour did it, and I was glad to see her go. A friend did it as well.

Yes, I'm sure that's what the donors family wanted as well.
Shame he's supposedly downing two bottles of wine a day...
