I havent had a fall for a long time the last biggy got me a broken ankle..you are lucky no bones broken...
I guess you will be sore over the Xmas... will those boys have to wait on mum do your think????..

it will probably do them the world of good..dont forget if they make a mess of mixing the drinks.. dont say anything.. just suggest the next one have a fraction more vodka or lemonade..once you tell them it was no good thats it.. they down tools..

When you've had a couple of falls and broken a bone or two - you stop taking your mobility for granted. A few years back I ran across the road to my car and stepped in an indentation in the road, twisted my ankle and fell. I knew I'd broken my foot instantly and thought - how do I get up gracefully. Two young workman were in a truck watching - that's all they did, but two women rushed across to help me up for which I was very grateful. I did some more shopping and then drove home before I gave into the pain.

I don't think it's discourtesy when you're not helped. Some people just don't know how to deal with another person's discomfort.

I wear practical shoes now if I have to do a bit of walking. I also look at the ground more often for potholes, bumps and cracks.

I can only guess you didnt break a bone mantra??.when I did mine it swelled up like a balloon I sat in emergency as it was then with a bag of frozen peas on it for 6 hours as it was a public holiday and the bone man was down the coast...to cap it all off... after a few hours I said I was going to go home and take a shower..I hadnt had one before it happened..my daughter was with me all the time and I was in a wheelchair.. what could go wrong...

she brings the car into the area by the door and out I go and bugger me I didnt realise how hard it is getting into a car from a sittin g position and bang I am sitting in the car park in full view of everyone in emergency...a big beefy bloke came and helped me up so undignified and they sent me back in to emergency to wait... and the shower could wait as well...it took two weeks for the swelling to go down so they could operate...

Cods - I broke two bones in my foot, but I had so much to do that day I kept going until I had time to concentrate on the damage. I didn't want to go to the hospital - it's so far away, but in retrospect I wish I had. When I got home and took my shoe off - within an hour my foot was swollen and had turned black with bruising.

If you ever break another bone Cods and the doctors suggest surgery - ask if there is an alternative. Manual manipulation to put the bone back into place often works and it's worth the short term agony.

really! never heard of that I have an ankle full of nuts and bolts...its the same side I had the hip replaced..lolol.. no wonder i set all the alarms off at airports....I have no idea how you walked on a broken foot.. amazing..... I have been on these bone meds ever since which are now injections every 6 months.. so I think I am made of stone..

my ankle was a fracture rather than a break in 3 places...get the odd twinge when it rains..and I am so grateful for what they can do today...

I didn't have my foot manipulated. Fortunately they were only greenstick fractures in the metatarsal bones. I fractured my wrist about a decade ago and was told that I had to stay in hospital and have a pin put in it, but then the doctor suggested manipulation of the bones to put it back in place. One doctor pulls your hand while the other one pulls your arm until the bone slips back in place. I still had to have it plastered though. My wrist is stronger now than it was back then. I haven't heard of bone meds. I've never had any ongoing pain from the bones I've broken. It must be hard for you Cods, but at least there is some medical relief for you at times.

My broken/smashed foot had an entirely different experience.

I was in a social bike club - United South Side Riders (USSR) and we used to ride, have parties and bung on Russian accents > "Dah comrade ve vill krush zem" - in Sydney in the early 90s.

A bunch of us were going out to the drags at Eastern Creek. Most of the rest of the pack were getting away from me through the traffic along Heathcote Rd and I didn't know my way to Eastern Creek.
I saw an opportunity, overtook Arrowmax & Ladrini on a GPZ (on my Rubber-glide) and about 4 cars in one go. Little did I know there was a right turn with traffic lights coming up, and the lead car decided to turn right.
I tried to go around them but they didn't see me, so wound up slamming my Rubber-glide into a Fairlane. In that last 1/4 second where I knew we were going to collide, somehow I knew I wasn't going to die (being bullet proof n'all) and thought "Shit! ... I've just wrecked my bike".

My left foot on forward controls got smashed between the frame down tube and the front wheel of the Fairlane. I flew about 30 metres upside down before landing on gravel on the other side of the road, my bike did cart wheels behind me, and the Fairlane halted mid intersection.

Arrowmax & Ladrini plus Chris and some girls in a Cortina saw it and pulled over.
I went to get up and my boot was half off. Arrowmax held me down "Don't get up".
Then I got hot, whipped my helmet off (had graze marks from the road or gravel) and then frantically removed my jacket. I said "Help me get this boot off". Chris pulled it off and my foot went "Boom! Throb - cop that you bastard!".

Got taken to Liverpool Hospital and the staff were apparently (according to my step-mother) wondering who this bloke (me) is? ... a call had gone out about the accident, and when I got sick of being told "A doctor will be here soon", got some crutches, went out into the waiting room to ask my father to get my boots and jacket and the waiting room had about 40 of my friends there.

Left without seeing a doctor after about 2 & 1/2 hours. Went to see a podiatrist 4 days later.
3 bones broken in 4 places. Liverpool Hospital told me I wouldn't walk for 6 weeks.
The podiatrist said "Can't do much for a broken foot, can't plaster it. ... Walk on it, it'll hurt, but it'll heal quicker and faster". He was right, I was walking in 3 weeks.

Even though I have a pop-up blocker I am sick to death of trying to open a website which is SLOW SLOW SLOW only to find it is because they have so many pop-ups or videos trying to open. I can't imagine it is good for business. I close them and go elsewhere.

some times agnes thats the body sending warnings.....maybe low iron or something its worth telling the doctor next time...

the flu has been bad so the headlines say but I dont know of anyone thats had it here and we have had a very cold winter...mind you I dont get out and about like I once did.....stay away from the shops as much as I can as I find I spend too much....go in for a loaf of bread and spend $98....it scares me!
