Terri Butler, what a pig of a leftist woman, smeared on Q&A one of the QUT students at the centre of the the HRC 18C debacle and has been made to publicly apologise and give the student a 5 figure settlement,

Dear Mr Thwaites

As you know, I was recently involved in a debate concerning the operation of the anti-vilification provisions of the Racial Discrimination Act, broadcast on the ABC’s Q&A programme on Monday, 21 November 2016. In that debate I made some reference to a case to which you were a party.

A serious allegation had been made, which was that a racist phrase, “ITT niggers”, had been used in a Facebook post, purportedly under your name. You have given evidence, accepted by the court, that you were not the author. Your legal representative, Mr Morris QC, has described you as a victim of malicious identity theft or a prank, which I accept.

In the course of the debate on Q&A, I made comments which were capable of being understood as meaning that you had been responsible for that Facebook post, making you a racist bigot and that,when you denied using those words in court proceedings, you were being dishonest or disingenuous.

There should be no suggestion that you were responsible for the Facebook post, or that your denial was anything other than the truth. Equally, there should be no suggestion that you are racist, or bigoted. I offer you my unreserved apology for enabling those meanings about you to be conveyed, and for the distress and damage to your reputation caused as a consequence.

You and I have agreed that I will make a modest payment to you, along with a contribution for your legal costs to date, and that you will accept these amounts in the spirit in which they were intended.

That looks like the original letter of apology after knowingly lying on ABC's Q&A that Thwaites rejected and proceeded with a defamation suit.
The 5 figure settlement AFAIK is a new development. No doubt an attempt to protect Gillian Triggs and the ALP's legal funds.

The PC comrades are terrified 18C of the RDA will be abolished, and they have good reason to be frightened, because 18C will be repealed. And the sooner the better.

So Cindy Prior's case was thrown out and $200K in legal expenses awarded against her, which her lawyers says Cindy prior will have to declare bunkruptcy over. Personally I think with all the trouble she's caused she shouldn't be allowed to get off with bunkruptcy, she should be made to pay.

Now Cindy Prior has initiated new legal proceedings and asking the court to agree that questioning or criticising special provisions and entitlements for Aboriginals should be considered as racism. The argument has been referred to as "absurd", and the judge stating that as this case is also likely to fail, it is in Cindy Prior's best interest to terminate the case so as not to increase her legal liabilities.

If you go back through the history of this chain of events, you will see that Cindy Prior racially discriminated against 3 students for which she was not charged or penalised. One of the students discriminated against made a rallying call against discrimination on Face Book with the comment "Preventing segregation with segregation".

An uninvolved student Calam Thrwaites made a rather tame comment about it not being good for cohesive relations.
Then someone using Calam Thwaites name made a comment about "ITT Niggers". And it's been deemed an incident of Identity theft.

Considering that Cindy Prior's motives through out this entire case have been to obtain financial gain, which she achieved as several students paid $5K each to make the AHRC persecution go away before going to the High Court for $250K compo, and the only people I have heard refer to Aboriginals as "Niggers" are other (white) Aboriginals - like Cindy Prior - I think the most likely person to have impersonated Calam Thwaites and made the offending comment is Cindy prior herself.
