The Canberra Times gives a completely different result to the latest from the AEC. Which is correct - who knows? Doesn't the AEC decide the outcome? Tallying the votes makes no sense at all - everyone has a different conclusion.

AEC says that the Coalition has 64 seats and Labor has 69 - the Canberra Times says that the Coalition has 71 and Labor has 65. The ABC says the Coalition has 68 and Labor 67.

Have a look at this AEC link Mantra.it was last updated at 5.11 pm today and has Labor on 71 seats and the coalition 67. I would disregard any other source given it is the AEC that decide the election outcome not a media organisation. I think some of the media organisations are trying to put a more positive spin on things for Turnbull. While if you look at the official AEC site things look pretty ordinary for the government.

Thanks Skippy. They must have just updated the AEC website when you looked. It is a huge mess at the moment. The Coalition would have to team up with Hinch, Hanson and Lambie if they wanted to form government. That would be hilarious.

I noticed that too, Mantra. The AEC have the Official numbers, the ABC and others are just "guessing" (or projecting what MIGHT be). Like I said, we won't know until the Fat Lady sings.

Meanwhile, it's a bit of a "mess". I don't want either Turnbull or Shorten but suppose we have to have one or the other. Time will tell who that will be and I doubt either will "win" outright. Hung Parliament, again!

I did love Turnbulls " victory speech" on Saturday night. Talk about a dummy spit.
As I heard someone say yesterday, he is still the same old Malcolm when things don't go his way.
I believe his public persona is all bullshit. He had me fooled, I used to think he was the best person in parliament to lead the country no matter what party he was leader of.

I saw Barrry Cassiday say last night he expects it to end up as 72 seats each to the major parties. He also said whoever forms government would be back at the polls before Xmas as it just isn't workable with those numbers. Antony Greens said yesterday the actual numbers in this election are even closer than 2010.
I don't think this is a surprise, I think the country really is that split on who they want to govern.
I think this is reality, what happened in 2013 was a swipe at Labor for its infighting.
This time it's different because a lot of the electorate like Turnbull better than Abbott but some of the electorate, like Western Sydney, prefer Abbott. Hence the coalition lost all their support and many seats in Western Sydney.
I expect this will stay this way until one side of POLTICS finds a leader that can unite most of the country in the way Howard and Hawke did.
