Eddie McGuire of the AFL thinks he owns the joint.

The City state of Melbourne has seen sledging as a part of football since forever. It existed long before the AFL code came about, and was part of the VFL, way before McGuire existed. More likely, sledging existed when the fledgling Aussie Rules code was first invented at the time of settlement, Back then Aussie Rules was a formulation which came from both the aboriginal form of the game blended with European codes.
Can you imagine the ruckus then, when languages were separate. All part of the fun of a gentleman’s game. But McGuire has a different dictum. Apparently he knows something about hate, presumably having seen it somewhere once. And so someone unfurls a banner at an AFL game, and Marshal McGuire is infuriated. There are rules.

Eddie hopes to discipline anyone and everyone who doesn’t get on board with his social program at the footy. He intends to identify any ‘racists’ and ban them. McGuire, like too many others and the police and media proclaim Islam is a ‘race’. It is not. Islam is a movement.
