For a while now I've been wondering how Islamic State has been obtainig amunition.
I was thinking "Righto, this crew have been stomping around for the best part of a year (well over a year now) and whatever ammo they comandeered from Iraq or Syria should have run out by now. So clearly they are being resupplied."

At first I considered 3 possible culprits: Turkey, Lebanon, and Israel.
They need to be local, and oppose Assad.

IS has crossed the Syrian border and invaded Lebanon, so Lebanon is off the hook.
Turkey is duplicitous, hates Assad and has considerable public support for IS because IS give Kurds a hard time.
Israel fears Assad and has a history of supporting future enemies. Mosad armed and financed ... (damn, forget name, but not Hezbolah) to destablise Yasser Arrafat's Fatah controlled PLO.

Anyway, it turns out Turkey is the culprit. Their Intel agency send regular shipments of weapons and ammo to IS in Syria. Turkish gendarmes/police seized a convoy of weapons and ammo headed over the border under the pretense of humanitarian aid (food & medicine) and have since been arrested and charged.

Now IS unlike Al Qaida who only wanted to repell the American led West from Muslim countries actually believes they are going to conquer the world. So is Turkish support for IS likely to bite Turkey on the arse? in the same way US support for the Taliban bit USA on the Arse? ... Probably.

Syrians in IS occupied areas are complaining that IS turns up at schools and dictates the curriculum. Chemistry is replaced with relgious studies. For Syrians per se this is bad in the long term. And fortunately, despite their ignorance, it's also bad for IS long term strategically.

So with IS preventing potential new recruits from learning chemistry, they will always be reliant on others for resupply of ammunition. Their new (now child) recruits will be able to chant verses of the Koran from cover to cover, but won't even know how to make Black Powder, let alone Cordite or high explosives. Dumb phuks.
