And you don't need to be certified or educated to be an islamic religious teacher.

The thing is, there is no globally consistent system of appointing sheikhs in Islam – unlike in Catholicism for priests – anyone can proclaim himself a sheikh while trying to promote particular religious opinions.

This aside, it was actually our Australian Muslim community here in Australia who warned our authorities re- "Sheikh Haron" being a potential fraud back in 2008.

The Iranian government had contacted the Australian government and warned he was a violent and unstable fraud also, but we dismissed this too.

I mean, we couldn't be seen discrediting our own pro-war propaganda machine now could we, even if he was missing a few springs.

I think our government and ASIO chose to ignore their concerns because he had served as a pro-war poster child for the ABC during Howards era, despite him becoming increasingly radicalised and antisocial.

It's a multi-systemic failure here i'm afraid, and the more I delve into it the more I realise the buck doesn't stop with ASIO or our judicial system.

On May 26, Monis was granted bail at Parramatta Local Court by magistrate Joan Baptie.

Ms Baptie said she had identified two "unacceptable risks" – that Monis may endanger the safety of victims, individuals or the community, and that he may interfere with witnesses or evidence.

However, the magistrate granted him conditional bail, and reinstated the conditions placed on him in December 2013, including daily reporting to Campsie police station, surrendering his passport, not going within 500 metres of a point of overseas departure and not contacting "the prosecution witness".

Of course he never had a gun licence. Crooks have guns and they get them on the black market and wouldn't dream of applying for a licence .... that would let the cops know they had a gun. Those with gun licences are Farmers and Registered Shooters/Club Members, etc.
