A nine-year-old Sydney girl has allegedly left the country to be married overseas, just one of a dozen cases since June, a women's health service says.

The Immigrant Women's Health Service in western Sydney said it received a tip-off on Monday about a case involving a nine-year-old child bride.

The service spoke to the girl's mother but said it could not get specific information. It is suspected the girl will be married in the Middle East.

I worked with a Muslim girl once (one of several) and her family and friends were what we would term 'moderate'. She didn't cover her face, just her hair. Her best friend came home from work oneday (admittedly she wasn't 9) to find that her parents had promised her to some guy overseas. She was shocked but still forced to travel overseas to marry this jerk. She had 3 children one after the other and the new husband turned out to be extremely abusive to both her and the children, so she grabbed the kids and fled back home hoping for some solace with her family.

What did her family do? Insisted she return to the abusive jerk and when she refused they grabbed all three children and sent them back, then they put locks on her bedroom door, took away her phone and all means of communication and kept her a prisoner.

I don't know how it ended but I am quite sure it did not end well.

I'll ask a Muslim on FD's other forum about the statistics for adult Australian women marrying Muslim males. There is plenty of information on them marrying underage females. ISIS seems to be doing a recruitment drive for wives also.

I said Christian female for want of a better term, but agnostics and atheists are included. One of the members on Ozpolitic married a Muslim male.

Not every Australian Muslim male marries a Muslim girl. They would take whatever was available. There are plenty of vulnerable and lonely young Aussie women who are fed up with Australian men and would jump into a Muslim marriage.
