I used that picture as an example of the hassles Hanson endured during her political life. Of course the worst experience for her was when Abbott and his cronies helped put her in gaol for a few months. The Libs then adopted many of One Nation's policies, so keeping Hanson imprisoned for all those months was good for the party. She will have to come up with something different this time around if she wants to succeed.
Personally I think Pauline has done her dash and I think Lambie is unelectable.
But you never can tell.
Lambie appears to have learnt her lesson. She had the honesty to admit she has made some mistakes in this new job, but is trying to get back on track. She's honest, if not a little outspoken. She made a smart move yesterday by opposing the Fofa plans and Palmer. Hope she keeps up the good work.

Because the picture mantra has of Bob Brown being double fisted up to the shoulders is busy being blown up to wall size and framed in gold?
Even if Brown had been straight - I wouldn't have been attracted to him on a physical level. It was his generous spiritual side which I admired. I haven't seen that in any other politician. He's another one who's been personally persecuted, not because he's gay, but because the Greens were a threat. They still can be if the Libs don't get their act together soon.

Actually the Qld Labor government put her in gaol. And remember it was always Labor leading the charge against Hanson.
Yes, I know Abbott and a few Liberal zealots got involved later on and IMO they did the wrong thing by her and the party...
If you want to show wrong doing and the Libs had nothing to do with that fraudulent article... you need to actually make an appropriate comment. All you did was post anti-hanson literature.
I don't think any move Lambie makes is smart and I also think she is basically a labor member of parliament. Maybe next time she asks they will accept her as a candidate eh? :rofl

That's not what Abbott says and he should know. Unless you think he's lying?
DANA ROBERTSON: Five years ago, Tony Abbott was secretly meeting One Nation dissidents, helping to plot Pauline Hanson's political downfall.

TONY ABBOTT, WORKPLACE RELATIONS MINISTER: ]Back in 1998, I thought that the One Nation party was seriously damaging Australia's social stability.

DANA ROBERTSON: Today, it's a different story.

Mr Abbott says that, like his political mentor, John Howard, he's shocked at the length of Ms Hanson's sentence.

Labor says it's nothing but hypocrisy, accusing Mr Abbott of doing the PM's bidding all along.

CRAIG EMERSON, OPPOSITION FRONTBENCHER: Does John Howard expect us to believe that his right-hand man, his attack dog, went to Queensland to organise the prosecution of Pauline Hanson and he didn't know about it?

TONY ABBOTT: Everything that I did in 1998 I did entirely off my own bat.

It was all my own work.

DANA ROBERTSON: And the Workplace Relations Minister says his concerns have now been vindicated.

TONY ABBOTT: Don't forget that the matter that I was trying to promote back in 1998 was a civil action -- a civil action to try to stop the payment of $500,000 to Pauline Hanson's party, and if the Queensland Electoral Commissioner back then hadn't made that payment -- a payment which was subsequently found to be unlawful -- well, then we would never have had the subsequent criminal case.

DANA ROBERTSON: That hasn't stopped Ms Hanson's lawyers demanding to know the extent of his anti-One Nation crusade.

CHRIS NYST, HANSON'S LAWYER: Tony Abbott's got some questions to answer as well.

I'm sorry that's the truth and you need to stop lying. Care to provide a quote where Abbott says he put Hanson in gaol? No? That's because it never happened. The fact is Howard and the Liberals and that includes Abbott did nothing about Hanson until they saw that ON could get votes ie: their result in the Qld state election.

Abbott and the rest of the Australians for Honest politics a group not even mentioned in your article were responsible for some of the funding of the witchhunt. That's all.
Abbott admitted eventually that it wasn't social stability or cohesion or racism or any of those other moral epithets he threw about that drove the group and himself to act... it was the fact that Hanson and ON were a political threat.
Next time I tell you something I personally know about and have had more direct contact with than some dumb ABC reporter don't quote them as if they know the truth and I don't.
They funded disaffected ON members to start proceedings against Hanson and Ettridge. but it was the Beattie Labor government that presided over and pushed the witchhunt, and eventually the innocent had their convictions quashed.

Oh and mantra before highlighting stuff, next time read and understand what you quote before going off half-cocked... he said he acted on his own not on behalf of the party.... which doesn't contradict what I said at all.

Both Lambie & Hanson are embarrassing to watch. I suppose they're both trying their best to outdo Gillard as the most cringeworthy political figure we've had to endure.

They have their embarrassing moments and that's because neither of them have had the advantage of a long and indulgent education like so many of our politicians have. Both seem to be learning from their mistakes. They talk as they see it and in many ways it's refreshing. There is a lot of snobbery in politics and I think this is why the Liberals are a turn off to so many people. They don't say what they mean, but try and outsmart the average person with doublespeak. They think the electorate is stupid.

Considering Hanson was in parliament and a leader of a political party long before Gillard I doubt that very much.
