Iran is already involved in fighting ISIS anyway—sunny–shiite antagonism.

I just tried to show the situation is not simple and what the correct response should be takes some effort to work out. The invasion of Iraq by Bush made things worse and more complicated.

I wasn’t presenting answers, just trying to work out what is best in a complicated situation. If the US was to arm the Kurds then Turkey would act up—the tinpot, hole in corner ME politics and intrigues.
Just how thick are you?
Did you even read what was written?

I read it. I never mentioned Iran in my post but have read—and can understand—they are already involved in opposing ISIS.

Did you post a link previously wanker?
Did you read it.... you must have you regurgitated the crap from it.
Do you understand that that rubbish was generated from information on another site, one that is basically a propaganda site for conspiranuts of which the ME abounds.
Did the point about truth and lies evade you? of course it did.
was my point too subtle for you perhaps... want me to dumb it down and use large font in future?

POST facts not crap.

GeorgeH wrote:Syria hugely complicates things—I mean there is a civil war happening there! And the anti–government forces are a motley bunch including fanatic like ISIS. Then we have Turkey anxious that Kurds not be armed because Turkey contains a large part of “Kurdistan” and the Turks oppose this. The “murdering Muslims” seem to take however many refugees flee to them—part of the Muslim religion not often mentioned in the west.

So a solution could be to concentrate on ISIS in Iraq where we have been asked to help. The Kurds will fight, we know that. They need time to train more fighters from the many refugees that fled to them recently.

ISIS is gettin weapons from where? Apparently Israel, in the captured Golan Heights area, are looking after injured ISIS fighters and this report mentioned the Israelis were supplying them with weapons but no real evidence given. What is in it for Israel? Fairly obviously an agreement to not pursue the matter of the return of the Golan Heights to Syria in the event Syria falls to ISIS? Or weapons come through Jordan or via Lebanon. Definitely not from Turkey I suppose? Unless ISIS promised to push back the Kurds which they seem to be doing.

Preventing supplies to ISIS would seem to be a way of neutralising them as a military–political force.

The Iraq army is a joke—lots more training and leadership is required.

Then—just how many fighters are there in ISIS anyway? They seem to win through terror and suicide bombing rather than mass military action (unlike the Taliban in ’Stan.) So what best strategy, tactics, force makeup is needed to defeat them?

Lots of questions, few answers from govts eager to beat the terrorism drum for base political motives, like our monkey! I wonder how much of the US effort is done with an eye to the November Senate election?

Re-Israel providing ISIS with weapons.

Agreed, lots of questions, and few answers from parties eager for whatever reason or perhaps just too naive?
As for Roach, he's beyond reproach.

Anyone who disagrees with the Roach, is immediately handed a tin-foil hat.

It's called the Roach Reproach reflex.

In case you've been blind and deaf over the last few months. ISIS have largely been aquiring weapons from those they defeat. Below you will see Islamic State fighters parade through Raqqa in Syria. Isis jihadis using captured arms and troop carriers from US and Saudis
Obama considers focusing on Isis bases in Syria as study finds jihadis have anti-tank rockets seized from rival rebels there.

The jihadi group surging through Iraq and Syria is using large captured US-made weapons and has access to anti-tank rockets supplied by Saudi Arabia to a moderate rebel group, according to a report published on Monday.

The study by the London-based Conflict Armament Research consultancy found that Islamic State (Isis) militants had access to large numbers of US weapons, which they were shifting to key battlefields.

The report drew no conclusions about how the weapons were sourced. However, the capitulation of the Iraqi army in northern Iraq on 10 June gave the jihadis access to military arsenals in the north of the country, which were full of US-supplied assault rifles and ammunition, as well as heavy weapons.

Seen below... Why would we have US jets bombing ISIS captured Humvees and US-made troop carriers in northern Iraq if they supplied them to them in the first place? Hmmm. Many of these transports were used by the US military during the IRAQ war and occupation, they were then handed over by the US to Iraq.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Commander of the Golden Division, Fadhil Birwari, confirmed that “The weapons and the ammo used by the elements of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria are made in Israel.”

Via his Facebook page, he said “All the killing operations done in Iraq are done through the same weapons that were used in 2006.”

“I was surprised that the weapons used by the ISIS elements in Anbar are made in Israel,” he concluded.
Mere conspiracy I guess, eh Roach?

8-)

Needles to say, this didn't surprise me.
