Labor Stalwart backs Abbott on IR changes

Martin Ferguson backs Tony Abbott on IR law changes

FORMER Labor frontbencher and union leader Martin Ferguson today will back changes to industrial relations laws, including allowing the use of contractors and restoring the building watchdog, warning that productivity must improve or unemployment will rise and living standards will fall.

Mr Ferguson, a former ACTU president and leader of the factional Left, will support elements of Tony Abbott’s industrial relations and deregulation agenda and reject government subsidies for “unsustainable industries”.

His comments, in a speech to be delivered today in Perth, are at odds with Bill Shorten’s opposition to the government’s plan to restore the Australian Building and Construction Commission and with criticism of the government’s refusal to provide subsidies to SPC Ardmona and further assistance to General Motors Holden.
Looks like Shorten is being given the short shrift.

Shorten needs to become a leader instead of a puppet like all other ALP so-called leaders but it seems that all the ALP is able to put forward is puppets. It will be interesting if Shorten can step up to the plate and manage to disguise himself as not a puppet...although we all know he will be but the ALP seem incapable of putting forward a candidate that isn't a union puppet.

The last guy that managed to put himself forward as a non-puppet ended up on the chopping block in his first term as PM.

I say that that the ALP has done its dash. All it needs is a strong leader to splinter the useless fucks and create a party that is relevant to all Australians. I doubt they will be able to do that considering how splintered and factional they are.

Good, leftwing fuckwits are still leftwing fuckwits no matter what form they take, but the current organisational fuckwittery is on a downward spiral.

Ferguson and Tanner should be leading the ALP.

At least the conservatives would have some competition. The likes of Shorten and Conroy will be the death knell of the ALP.

The idiots pumping up Shorten and protecting Conroy, not to mention having Pilbeserk as a deputy only prove that the ALP has a lack of talent and a lack of foresight in putting these sort of people forward.

They don't connect with Australians and they don't connect with the public service.

Don't agree with Tanner he was a man full of hate and bile, but Ferguson would be probably the best man for the job in the current political bunch.

Rudd ended up paranoid and rightly so because the union blocks were out to get him. He told them to get fucked and they didn't like it, so they spent their days undermining him and basically self destabilised their own party to install Gillard as their puppet.

Ferguson liked Rudd because he knew that to follow the union path was death for the ALP and for Australia. He knew that the unions would rather see Australia fucked than see their own power diffused.

Now they have Shortshiten - good luck with that little know nothing :rofl
