Re: Lefties showing their homophobia
ALL the "progressives" do on a Forum is resort to name-calling. Anyone who disagrees with their POV gets a barrage of denigrating terms and insults. All made up to try to make the other "progressives" follow suit.
Aussie, Monk (and Mantra) have this unfortunate demeanor. As do so many others over at OzPol. They will drag up something that occurred in the dim dark ages to denigrate a person "of the right". I give up! I think it is the ANONYMITY that brings out the cruel, nastiness in some people.
I have many friends who have voted Labor all their lives. Some have even voted Green! We have absolutely no problem with this. Who cares? Life goes On. Sure we have discussed certain things but we are ADULTS. LIFE is more important than what people on Forums talk about.

Re: Lefties showing their homophobia
Vladimir Putin has promised gay visitors to the Sochi Olympic Games they will have nothing to fear in Russia, but warned them to “leave children alone” as he defended a controversial ban on promoting homosexuality to juveniles.
Man. I grew up in homophobic country NSW in the 70s and everyone knew, as a fact, that homo's were here to corrupt little children into taking up their lifestyle choice.
I think, my home down has moved on with the times on this issue.... well in part.
Russia appears to have not progressed at all and is regressing like most of Africa. Russia has a long way to go.
I guess all gays will now have a right to come to the west to be saved from persecution.
Putin says gay visitors to Sochi Olympics must 'leave children alone'
Russian president defends controversial law against 'homosexual propaganda'

Vladimir Putin has promised gay visitors to the Sochi Olympic Games they will have nothing to fear in Russia, but warned them to “leave children alone” as he defended a controversial ban on promoting homosexuality to juveniles.

The Russian president’s comments came during a meeting with Olympic volunteers.
When asked how the rainbow design - widely used by gay rights groups around the world - of volunteers’ uniforms at Sochi could be compatible with a controversial ban on “homosexual propaganda”, he responded: “We do not have a ban on non-traditional sexual relationships.
“We have a ban on the propaganda of homosexuality and paedopilia. I want to emphasise this. Among children. These are completely different things — a ban on something, or a ban on such relationships or a ban on propaganda of such relationships.”
He went on to claim Russia was much more liberal than other countries, claiming that several American states still criminalize homosexual relationships.
“We haven’t banned anything and no one is being grabbed off the street unlike in some countries,” said Mr Putin, who also claimed that some US states still consider homosexual relations a crime.
“So you will feel quite secure, at ease, but leave kids alone, please,” he said.
His reply is likely to infuriate gay rights campaigners and foreign governments. Several world leaders have declined to attend the games or have downgraded their delegations in protest at a Russian law passed last year banning the promotion of “non-traditional” relationships, amid a Kremlin effort to repositioning itself as a guardian of “traditional” values against creeping western liberalism.
Speaking to the Russian press, Mr Putin insisted that Russia would continue to defend its traditional values against the slipperly slope of liberalism that he claimed had led some countries to consider legalisation of paedophilia.
“It’s not a secret, look on the internet and you’ll find [the countries in question] straight away,” he said. “Parties have raised the question in several parliaments. Should we follow them like lapdogs toward unknown consequences? We have our own traditions, our own culture, and we ask our partners to respect them.”
Last week the Russian foreign ministry issued a report on human rights in the European Union in which it accused EU states of “aggressively” pushing recognition of same-sex relationships on countries that consider them “alien”.
While Mr Putin has consistently defended the law simply as a measure to protect of children, rights activists say it effectively strips sexual minorities of basic rights like freedom of speech and assembly and has stoked homophobia.
“He’s trying to say this law is only directed at protecting minors and it doesn’t have affect on LGBT people’s lives, but that’s just not the case,” said Nikolai Alexeyev, the founder of the Gay Russia rights group and one of a handful of people to be brought to court under the new law.

Someone should tell him the difference between being homosexual and a pedophile.

Surveys put Australia as the gayest country in the world so I can understand the interest in this subject. Still, somehow I think England is gayer.

Then SF must be full of smokers.

Smoking increases chances of child being gay in adulthood, controversial study claims
A neuroscientist has claimed a woman's lifestyle during pregnancy is directly linked to the development of their children, influencing whether they may be gay and having an impact on their IQ

Women who smoke or lead a stressful life during their pregnancy can influence their child’s sexuality and IQ, a neuroscientist has claimed.
A pregnant woman’s lifestyle is believed to have an impact on the development of their babies – with drinking, taking drugs and even living in an area with a lot of pollution affecting children in later life.
Dick Swaab, professor of neurobiology at Amsterdam University, suggests drinking and taking drugs can lower a child’s IQ while taking synthetic hormones and smoking can increase the likelihood of girls being lesbians or bisexual.
Having more older brothers is also thought to increase the chance that boys will be gay, possibly because of the development of the mother’s immune system to have stronger responses to male hormones with each son born.
“Pre-birth exposure to both nicotine and amphetamines increases the chance of lesbian daughters,” Swaab told the Sunday Times.
“Pregnant women suffering from stress are also more likely to have homosexual children of both genders because their raised level of the stress hormone cortisol affects the production of foetal sex hormones.”
He said the brain in foetuses begins to develop at two weeks, with anything that introduces toxins into the body having an impact on this development. Studies show women who took synthetic oestrogen between 1939 and 1960 to reduce the chance of miscarriage had a greater chance of bisexuality and lesbianism in their daughters.
Swaab added: “In women who drink a lot, cells that were meant to migrate across the foetal brain can end up leaving the brain altogether.”
Living in an area of high pollution is linked to an increased risk of autism.
Swaab said lifestyle factors are just one influence, with genetics playing the most important role, but said the research proves that the development of the brain during pregnancy is directly linked to adult lifestyles.

Tell me Mr 127 IQ... why does it scare you, that paedophilia may be a natural part of human nature? And why is the alternative more comforting for you?
