I think you were hatched yourself, Unjovial one. Hence your pre-occupation with hens and eggs!

ehst?

Sortius works for Telstra, knows more than most about Telstra’s copper.

IQ is just a poor old, fat, bald, single, childless drunk.

Well that's not likely to happen with Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber.

I imagine it's much like watching the Muppet show.

This is the best site I have seen on the issue.
BROADBAND REMAINS a key point of difference between Labor and the Coalition’s policies going into the election.

In summary the key differences in broadband policies are:
•The Coalition offers a lower-cost network that will provide customers with modest improvements in broadband services in the shorter term. But the Coalition’s network will create a new digital divide and require major upgrades soon after it is completed.
•Labor promises a more future-proof solution that will cost more at the outset, but will stimulate broadband developments in government, business, and entertainment, and which has potential to serve Australia until beyond 2050.
•The cost difference between these two alternatives is about $1,000 per premises.

I fear that the coalition has done a bad job if NBN is the key differentiator.

I am particularly concerned about the date of obsolescence being 2020, a year after it is implemented.

A $15Bn difference, $1k per household.

I think the "Table 2" provides some concerns as to the viability if the coalitions plan.

NBN is just a fuck-up. How the coalition can improve the costs when the thing is mid-flight is beyond me. They cannot win this argument really because the time to do something more cost/TCO effectively (total cost of ownership) was at the programme conception.

Also the dodgy deals with Telstra are not a good look. Read here.

The copper is fucked and too narrow—the obvious conclusion is that the Libs mention Fraudband to look like they have at least a semiplausible technology, if they win they will forget all about it.

Tony Abbott PM will be about:
Sacking about 60K public servants
Increasing taxes—the tax free threshold will go back to $6K not immediately but definitely after Cossie hands in his botchjob of a report
Reinstating a heap of middleclass welfare
Cutting pensions

This drive to a surplus—austerity—will cause a recession.

Amazingly the country and business has got on just fine without spending $94bn on an unneeded network . Considering Rudd and Co have put us $300bn in debt (not counting what they have already wasted on the NBN because its not on the books and they are hiding the figures) the economic fuck ups need to be addressed first rather than waste money on a disability pensioner entertainment system.

Fraudband can’t work.

The $30Bn FTTH rollout will underpin the country’s prosperity into the future. The $29Bn Fraudband is just a complete waste of money that will deliver not much unless substantial amounts of new copper is run out—and copper costs more than fibre does.

The copper just isn’t going to last much longer.
