Sydney's 2nd Airport

Post by Rorschach » Tue Aug 13, 2013 12:02 pm

Rudd says.... I'm Kevin, I'm from Queensland, personally I don't give a stuff...

This is the guy who wants to be PM.
PM of all of Australia.
Someone should tell him Sydney is in Australia.
That Qld is not all of Australia and that he is supposed to look after all Australians.
That Sydney is the major gateway to Australia and its airport is the major airport.
Melbourne has 2 airports... the Sydney decision has been put off for around 30 years and Labor already acquired the land at Badgery's Creek back in 1986.

Abbott doesn't give a toss about it, and be grateful that Rudd is allowing Albanese to deal with it as part of his portfolio. Frankly, I don't give a toss about it either, and neither will anyone outside of Sydney. Maybe you need to talk to your LNP mates in NSW.

Liar liar pants on fire..
I suggest the totally biased like yourself and totally ignorant like yourself refrain from commenting lest you make a bigger fool of yourself.

Why do you think the Commonwealth government purchased the land at Badgery's Creek... could it be a federal responsibility?

What has Abbott said...

Will there be a 2nd airport... yes.
Will it start to happen next term.... yes.
What are the immediate concerns... fixing the current access problems to Kingsford Smith.

and this from a nationally televised debate.. :rofl :rofl :rofl

And to be balanced (and we all know you want to be balanced) what did Rudd propose?

Nothing... he passed it off to Albo who wasn't there at the debate.

He did proffer however that he was from Queensland not Sydney and that he's sure something will be done sometime.
PM: Let me answer this in two ways because I think it answers two parts of Simon's question. He talked about productivity and specifically about Sydney Airport. Can I just make the point on productivity? Under the Fair Work Act, labour productivity has been growing at 1.9 per cent, under WorkChoices it was 0.7 per cent. Let's bear that in mind before everyone assumes that the Fair Work Act is counter to productivity outcomes. Secondly, productivity is driven by a bunch of things. It is driven by relative energy prices including the burden faced by a bunch of people through gouging by State Government owned electricity utilities as well. That brings down relative competitiveness and efficiency and productivity of firms. The level of skills we're investing in for firms; that drives productivity. That's why we are so passionate about our investment in education.

Furthermore, our investment in infrastructure, enabling infrastructure like the national broadband network goes to all of Australia not just to Sydney, Simon, and therefore that also is capable of lifting the productivity of firms. These are the drivers of productivity. We're passionate about that. On Sydney Airport, there's a massive debate about where any second airport should be. I'm from Queensland, I’m not from Sydney. I hear contending arguments in terms of where or if such a new airport should be located. This lies with the Infrastructure Minister. I'm sure recommendations will come forward at the right time and that appropriate decisions will be made on when the existing site at Kingsford Smith reaches its capacity.

But I go back to the productivity drivers. That is a much broader equation for all Australians and therefore it's got to be investing in people's skills, investing in the new infrastructure and making sure we've got competitive energy prices like, for example, bringing on new gas supplies to bring down the energy price like in the United States.
Waffle waffle waffle, little bit on sydney airport waffle waffle waffle...
If you were not interested enough in Australia and Australian politics... why do you bother to annoy people here with your ignorance?

Rudd said as much about the airport as did Abbott, who quickly switched over to other infrastructure he'd rather talk about, yes? And........if I didn't answer you with my alleged ignorance, as there is no-one else here to respond to you, I thought I'd keep you amused.

No... not at all.
perhaps you should read my comments and educate yourself.
Since you never bothered to watch the debate anyway...
No real defence of Kevin I see... because he is indefensible.

Perhaps, you should start a Kindi forum for people like yourself... mind you, it might be kinda lonely there. :du
