I'm telling the guy who linked it here in an effort to push for wasting more taxpayers dollars. Go comment on the site saying someone called you a fucking idiot for trying to use this article as evidence that the NBN is a must have.

HFC is heavily congested and has low upload speeds, not what the exporter has in mind, presumably.
All bar Lib fanbois want the NBN.

Re: Fraudband
He can pay for the service he requires- he is a business. It's not the job of the taxpayer to fund business applications.
What next? ALP branded Cisco routers for all?
How about taxpayer funded iPads for all sales reps instead of the business paying for them?
It's the biggest waste of fucking money since the last lot of ALP fucking money wasting activity

If we are not to become the poor white trash of Asia we need the NBN and by that I don’t mean Fraudband or stupid fucking wireless crap!
We could also do with a Leader who looks to the future than an extreme Catholic numpty who looks to the past!
The NBN is not being built with tax payers money, will make a huge profit once multicasting takes off. Any wonder Rupert hates it, would devalue his crappy Foxtel something awful—but we don’t owe Rupert his commercial survival, up to him to keep his newspapers etc afloat.
The NBN will save a fortune in building, staffing and running hospitals and nursing homes to look after aging, frail boomers. It will encourage more telecommuting, saving spending on roads and public transport. It makes our businesses more competitive, ends the brutal isolation of the bush, boosts education, provides a much wider range of entertainment on demand and helps people keep in touch even when they are in different states.
The NBN will boost our GDP the way very fast broadband has done everywhere, new applications and services will provide high tech, high value goods and services and skilled employment.
All for a tiny 0.1% of total government spending over 10 years.

Honestly a bit of factual discussion for a change might be nice Monkey Boy.Jovial_Monk wrote:If we are not to become the poor white trash of Asia we need the NBN and by that I don’t mean Fraudband or stupid fucking wireless crap!

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-27/r ... ks/4713788The team from Bell Labs has been able to transmit data at 400 gigabits per second over long-haul fibre cable links, similar to the ones servicing Australia.
The scientists say it is roughly four times faster than previously thought possible.
The research, published in the journal Nature Photonics, reveals a way to reduce the distortions - known as non linearities - on the long-distance links, which can be up to around 13,000 kilometres in length. . . .
Fellow researcher Peter Winzer says it is an important breakthrough given the world's insatiable appetite for data.
"Traffic is growing exponentially all over the world," he said.
"With each keystroke you do on your computer on a Google search, you have immense traffic that connects your computer to a data centre that's very far away from where you are."
The breakthrough will not directly mean faster internet speeds at home. But more people will be able to use the submarine links at once.
Need this once the NBN starts being connected to a sizable fraction of the population.
Some still think Abbott won’t cancel the NBN build, or defund it. He will—the internet is just used for porn and email, remember?
#Fraudband won’t go ahead—the wiring used in the last mile are too thin to provide the low impedance VDSL/VDSL2 requires, Turncoat abuses people who ask him for inconvenient details like cost of copper remediation and maintenance, the power required to run 60K nodes and cool them in summer, 60K not enough to give more than a fraction of subscribers fast broadband—all the $30Bn they would spend will give is “up to” 25mbps and the proportion getting 25mbps will be dropping all the time.
Just for the sake of completing this vital nation building Labor must be returned. That will also prevent austerity and the attendant recession and unemployment being imposed on the country.

Oh dear... another pink batt like debacle.
Telstra have over 4,000,000 pits and adjoining cable ducts 2,000,000 of which have asbestos in them. So we have the cowboys rushing in to do the work and making a mess of it yet again.
Gillard was rushed out today to point out that it was Telstra's responsibility not the governments.
Telstra will have to put on new staff and train the staff for asbestos handling.
Will they absorb the costs or will it be passed on yet again to us?
Will they be forced to set up a hardy like scheme for future cancer victim funding?
Will the government be asked to share the burden?
Oh dear more problems and more delays... how unusual, for this government.

Re: Fraudband
I will guarantee that this will be yet another monumental fuck up of epic proportions that will cost the taxpayer. The Telstra business unit isn't staffed by numpties like the ALP and Conroy. They would have known these issues would arise and made sure the govt will be ultimately responsible financially.Rorschach wrote:Oh dear... another pink batt like debacle.

This sort of thing occurred back in the 80s with a labor govt trying to rub shoulders with business- WA inc sounds similar to NBN Co

The govt thinks they are smarter than everyone and the taxpayer gets taken for a long expensive ride.
Fuck the ALP
