Ya know....this is odd. As you all know, I have no idea about any of this. But, if any of you three tried to sell me the NBN, I'd ignore each of ye because of what I know of your political bias. I'd love some bloke like Moses (who seems to know what he is talking about, and so far as I have observed, he has never revealed a political bent) to direct me, But, do carry on.

It sells itself.

A blazing fast internet, no line rentals and, by using Skype (Google it, Aussie) much less in call charges.

If you had a couple of kids using the net and you wanted to watch a movie via the net—your present internet connection would struggle. This is where the NBN shines with its high bandwidth and reliability.

As to content—you could talk to Donnie Darko face to face via computer. If it had been here, Mum could have talked to my niece living 400Km away, seen her new granddaughter more often, etc. My niece’s sisters could have joined in the call.

Photos and videos are certainly going to be part of the content—seen the price of digicams lately? But this is old thinking, all SN and IQ etc are capable of.

Monk just loves to spend other people's money on his entertainment that he will never find a use for.

I would give you a unbiased cost benefit analysis.

Based on need, you select the appropriate service.

So....if my need is minimal, that means, someone.....maybe lots of people who might need it....and their use of it might directly benefit me......Samsung/Korea.......ought not have it. This NBN surely is not just for merely household use? Is that what you are telling me NOIQ/SN? Are you saying it has no benefit beyond some kid playing some www game?

Are you saying the taxpayer ought to fund a business's telecommunications network so you can have access to a service you'll never need?

I didn't realise that you were so pro-capitalist to the point of complete idiocy...

It depends on what you will use it for.

For phone and playing on the internet using browser, you need no more than 2 mbps.

Downloading movies doesn't have to be instant because you get to watch it as it downloads.

So based on usage and needs you would get a product/service to meet your needs rather than paying for capacity you will not need for a long time. When you have all the grandkids living with you, it will still work for games because they send small packets for game play synching. No issue there. Skype works fine as well, refresh rate will not be the same a movie but good enough.

So yes to your question is my answer, in general.
