While I accept that we are insignificant in spacetime I still contend that just because that many planetary forces are well beyond our control that if... if we humans create an environmental change that could lead to an earlier than would natural occur runaway greenhouse scenario we should take responsibility and do something about it. It is in our own long term interest plus we have a responsibility to other life on this planet.

Our contribution to the release of warming gases is clear. No-one denies it. Short term thinking is what is going to kill us off if we are not careful.

We need to use our bigger brain and be above the normal life cycle of multiplying until all resources are consumed and die in our own shit like all other life here....

I can only make myself appear stupid to stupid people who don't get the longer term impact of an attitude that assumes we can always adapt to the environment so we should not care for it.

I agree that the panic doomsayers that seek to impose high taxes now for no benefit should be restrained but not having a plan to redress the changes in the energy build up due to mans activities is just bloody insane.

Well then humanity might start thinking about adapting to a permanently warmer climate with sea levels that will eventually flood many coastal cities around the world.

How about skipping the carbon tax and starting to plan for a new way of life that would benefit people, such as building floating cities offshore, and modifying the way we grow and produce food, things like that.
