Tell me AiA, seeing as you support gay marriage, do you also support all that it entails - including the inevitable wholesale adoption of children by gay couples and the persecution of religious institutions to perform or hire out their facilities on the basis of discrimination even though it is against their doctrines and principles?

Gay marriage could solve the adoption problem in the USA. Not sure that religious institutions will be "persecuted" ... sounds like fear-mongering to me.

Gay marriage could also create a problem with adoption. Did you consider this?

So you have no issue with a church or mosque being forced to perform a same sex marriage under their roof even if their doctrine doesn't allow it, under threat of litigation under discrimination acts?

Maybe nudist orgies to sanction the polygamists on the floor of religious establishments will also be ok with you?

Agains, the question I ask of proponents is where do they draw the line? I am happy to firmly draw a line that marriage should be between a man and a woman because of 1000s of years of tradition, the family unit and biology.

Where do you draw the line AiA?

Even the traditional line of marriage was once unknown ... you like to say that the Earth's climate is constantly in flux, right? Well, so is human culture.

The acceptance of gay marriage is probably more a generational thing now. Our kids accept it because they grew up with kids in same sex relationships and just take it for granted whereas the parents mostly grew up during a period when being homosexual was illegal and usually hidden because you could be jailed for committing sodomy.

Homosexuality only became legal in the 80's in Australia - so before then those who were brought up conservatively barely knew it existed.

Each to their own though. Gay marriage does seem a little farcical as it's barely successful amongst heterosexual couples.

That is the exact concern here in the UK.

There is concern that litigation will occur and the church being force to marry those that it sees as against that faiths teaching as it would be discrimination and against the law.

The issue will be a few gays will test the law by seeking to marry where they are not wanted.... it's going to be one big shit fight. The Church of England still has special privileges here being the state religion and tied to the crown. Should be fun to watch.

Agreed by I think less than 50% of heterosexual marriages stand the test of time these days.

I now think, considering I grew up in homophobic country Australia, let them have this and let's all get on with our lives.
