Dear xxxxx,

600 illegal boats have now arrived since Labor abolished John Howard’s proven border protection policies in 2008.

This record of dysfunction is one of the single greatest policy failings of the Rudd-Gillard government.

Labor’s record of failure is clear:

• 600 boats carrying over 35,000 people
• record populations in immigration detention
• riots, protests and unrest in detention centres
• tens of thousands of people dumped into the community
• $6.6 billion in budget blowouts and growing
• damage to Australia’s reputation

And it is a failure that worsens by the day, with Labor too weak and divided to stand-up to the people smugglers.

What’s even worse is that Julia Gillard stubbornly sits on her hands and makes excuses for doing nothing. Julia Gillard has no plan to stop the boats.

If elected, the Coalition will take immediate action to protect our borders. We will:

• re-introduce Temporary Protection Visas to deny the people smugglers a product to sell,
• have rigorous offshore processing, and
• give new orders to the Navy to turn back boats where it is safe to do so.

Only a change of government will restore the proven measures of the Howard Government and the resolve needed to stop the boats.

Reintroducing Temporary Protection Visas - won't that have to go through the Senate?

There is no room currently left for offshore processing - so where do they intend to send all these asylum seekers and how much more will it cost to establish new processing centres? Serco (a yank company) is already charging us billions to care for the refugees so if you think Gillard has blown the budget - Abbott will do a lot worse.

The Navy will not turn back the boats. They have already said that and Indonesia will not accept them back.

This is all rhetoric from the Coalition but the sheep want to believe it. Sorry - you're going to be in for a big disappointment.

The navy will do as they're told. They did it before and they will do it again.

TPVS will at least stop the illegals bringing in another 10 family members.

Leftys fucked the system and killed thousands. You have no rights or say how things should be done.

Who said the Coalition wont have control of the Senate?
Who said better cooperation and ideas will not see Indonesia as a working partner in solving the problem instead of being part of it in the future?

Indonesia has already made it clear that they won't take the boats back. As if Abbott will have the guts to stand up to them. When has any PM ever stood up to them?

Well if Abbott can get the numbers immediately to change this legislation - he will be a miracle worker.

Even if he cant, if he wins and needs to, he'll call a double dissolution and get them.

FEDERAL Labor MP Ed Husic admits to "raising an eyebrow'' on hearing the Gillard government would spend $21.6 million on a Disney film, after he'd lobbied in vain for new equipment for his local hospital.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard yesterday announced the one-off payment to Walt Disney studios, which is remaking the science fiction classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in Australia.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to head to Australia for Disney film

The project would create 2000 jobs in the local film industry, the prime minister said.

But a bemused Mr Husic, whose western Sydney MP seat is under threat in an election year, said he had been trying to get an MRI for his local hospital at Mount Druitt "for ages''.

"I have to say I raised my eyebrows yesterday when I saw that we were giving $20 million to the production,'' he told Sky News today.

"I don't need 20,000 leagues of sea; I need an MRI at Mount Druitt Hospital.''

Great idea Julia. Let's borrow more money to benefit anyone and everyone but us lowly Australians
