If you bothered to read my opinions on the issue you'd have noticed I already spoke about adaptation and the impact of future technologies.

I think we need to do more than adapt. We should reduce impact and do this now.

Technology will help in harm reduction and adaption.

I sensible set of actions is to reduce impact and reverse change... that should be our goal. Get levels back to pre-industrial age levels.

The planet we live on has had climate change for as long as it existed. It will in all probability always have climate change. Natural cooling and warming will always occur in a dynamic system... we live in a dynamic system... it is not static and our goal should not be to make it so through taxation... because that just ain't gonna work.

but only just. I also calculated the trend for the period 1995 to 2009. This trend (0.12C per decade) is positive, but not significant at the 95% significance level. The positive trend is quite close to the significance level. Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter periods.

In other words, IQ and Roach have picked out the hottest decade ever recorded, and because there has been no statistically significant added warming in that period, they are trying to claim it has stopped.

If you look back on the records, it is plainly obvious that there have been regular short periods of flat, and even downward temperate movement. The long term trend still remains upwards.

FOR RSS (Remote Sensing System data set) the warming is not significant for over 23 years. For UAH (University of Alabama in Huntsville), (it) is not significant for over 19 years. For HadCRUT3 (third revision of data set of Hadley Centre of the UK Met Office and Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia), the warming is not significant for over 19 years. For GISS (NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies), the warming is not significant for over 17 years.
