Having worked inside a pretty large legal firm as a full partner/owner, I can tell you that it is entirely unsurprising that a junior conveyancing clerk would handle a mundane purchase of this kind, and it is also entirely unsurprising that a fax from any party involved might be addressed to a partner. After all, we would not want the world to know that Partner Lawyers were not actually handling the matter!

Can I also point out that registering an unincorporated association in any State is extremely simple, requiring very little legal expertise. It also never demands that the firm handling such a simple matter ought enter into some sort of in depth investigation into what the association might do after registration. That is not the job of the firm.

Styvant–Brown was in charge of conveyancing the actual work being done by a paralegal. One of the capital partners arranged a loan from S&G to Blewitt. Couple of minor bits of paperwork got addressed to Gillard but there is no evidence she saw those.

You have answered your own question. She is an honest person and she had no involvement in any misconduct. Not one person from politician, lawyer, tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor, candlestick maker, rat-shit posters on political boards etc etc etc etc or anyone within any regulatory authority (including her Law Society) has even hinted that Gillard did anything untoward.

Gillard gave yet another presser today. None of the so–called journos there managed to elicit the slightest hint of wrongdoing.

Gillard gave free legal advice for the setting up an association. Most lawyers give free legal advice early in their career but tend to grow out of doing that.
