ACT Election

Post by Neferti » Tue Oct 16, 2012 3:44 pm

It's on this weekend in Canberra. We are all hoping for a change from GALP to LIB in Canberra.

Although the locals are all saying they are sick of Gillard and will NOT vote GALP they (the rusted ons) will vote ......?

I even had a local ALP person ring me the other day ..... Labor are really desperate at this time. Due to Julia Gillard ......... nobody "LIKES' her, So sad.

I hadn't even heard about an election there.
Haven't Labor always governed there ?

No! Skip. Since Self Government in 1988, we have had both Liberal and ALP Governments. Canberra IS full of public servants and tradies but many hate the ALP. It is time that Canberra got a Liberal Government ....... we came close 4 years ago but, as usual, the Greens sided with Labor. People are sick of it ......

I would presume that that the ABC will be following the ACT Election next Saturday (20th)

I came here from Sydney for personal reasons. I was originally from Melbourne. The difference between Sydney/Melbourne/Canberra (and even Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth) is the PEOPLE. That is all.

Heard this today Nef...
gotta love labor.
Just another little threat from the thuggish Gillard Government:

ACT Labor has unveiled a plan to move sick children more quickly through the Canberra Hospital’s emergency department (ED).

The Federal Government has committed $5 million to build a dedicated waiting, triage and treatment area for children…

ACT Labor Senator Kate Lundy says the deal is tied to Labor returning to power…

“We haven’t seen anything from the local Liberal opposition about their health plan.

”We’re certainly not in a position to be able to follow this through with any government other than a newly formed Labor Government.”

Aren’t Labor sweet when they are desperate?

.
ACT Labor Senator Kate Lundy says the deal is tied to Labor returning to power.
But Canberra Liberals spokesman Jeremy Hanson says it is an appalling election tactic.

"What we're seeing here is the Labor party playing games on the eve of an election," he said.

"Katy Lundy should immediately commit to providing this funding regardless of whether it's a Liberal or Labor Government elected in the ACT."

I wouldn't be too confident nef, look at this link. This bookmaker is so certain Labor will win the election tomorrow he is paying out winnings TODAY, true story.

Skip, it will most likely be another hung parliament with the Greens siding with the ALP to become the government like they did last time. There are only 17 positions in the Assembly and they reckon that ALP will get 7, Greens 4 and Libs 6. The ALP is unlikely to win outright. Have a look at Antony Green's site. He says much the same but it isn't over until the Fat Lady sings. ;)

Of course the Crimes (Canberra Times) is a Lefty rag. Have a look at the RiotACT site (news stuff about Canberra) as there are several threads on there about the Election and locals commenting.http://the-riotact.com/

Hard to really tell what the final result will be but they are saying 8 Lib 7 Lab 2 Green. It is still on live with Antony Green on the ABC News24 channel.
