What I really want to know is why Gay/Lesbian couples conform to the male and female roles? Always there seems to be one "same sex" partner who looks and acts male and the other looks and acts female .....

I've known Gay couples and this is always very obvious but I haven't known them well enough to ask such a direct question. Does anyone have any ideas as to the Why? I am curious. That's all.

I'll take a risk and have a shot at it. How about this as a theory.

Nature has evolved us to want to have a mate of the opposite gender. The root cause of eing gay (not that there is anything wrong with that) could be nature or nurture. The debate still rages. However I contend that it can be both together or independently.

I will use the female for my example.

Gay Nature: A female embryo is swimming in to much testosterone and it’s brain is formed with male attributes (this has been proven in the size of a part of the brain is different in females and males) This female if she is gay will tend to be a little butcher and have male mannerisms and takes the male role in the relationship.

Gay Nurture: A female is born physically female and mentally is not interested in men and defaults to a preference for women. In this case she tends to take the female role in a gay relationship.

We have evolved to take to have roles in a relationship. It would ne natural for these roles to play out in gay relationships.

I wouldn't say it's common either. Most lesbians I have known over the years were the way they were because they didn't like men. Usually their father or some other male authoritarian figure in their younger lives set the standard
