This impasse needs to be broken, and the situation advanced somehow. How about this idea. Arrangements are made and agreed to by all concerned that He with the Messiah Complex travel to Sweden in Ecuadorian diplomatic facilities (funded by Assange's coterie) and he take up residence there in the Embassy of Ecuador (if there isn't one, this idea is thereby rendered worthless) where he is questioned by the Swedes in satisfaction of their arrest warrant. What happens thereafter would depend on the outcome of that questioning.

Does it? Why?Aussie wrote:This impasse needs to be broken...
A much simpler solution would be for the Swedes to send a detective or two over to interview him in the embassy. There would be a much better case for his extradition if he was found to have a case to answer.

I can't be arsed explaining the bleeding obvious. Let's just leave things the way they are, and all will be well.Does it? Why?

The bleeding obvious fact of the matter is that none of this really matters. Assange could stay in the embassy for the rest of his life, and the world would do just fine without him. He can even continue to do occasional media releases, to satisfy his ego, until the world gets bored, and switches back to the Kardashins.Aussie wrote:I can't be arsed explaining the bleeding obvious. And on cue, out he pops, and tries his hand at rabble rousing. I like how he demands that the media be immune to prosecution, but fails to list the News of the World amongst the poor, downtrodden media entitiesboxy wrote:He can even continue to do occasional media releases, to satisfy his ego...

He needs to sort out the rape alegations then if the US go after him then he may get more sympathy.
There are limits to freedom of expression, publishing confidential information the way that he did with no regard for the potential lose of life to informers, agents and the military is not one of them. With such power comes responsibility. He has demonstrated he is irresponsible.
In another time, they would have just taken him out the back and shot him.
Much of what he did fails the "In the Public Interest" test even though the Public was interested.

Regardless of what you think about Assange - he at least gave us proof that governments can't be trusted. Of course the US want him - even though they've been quiet about it. They're waiting and it's only a matter of time before he's caught. The allegations made in Sweden are a decoy obviously.
Does anyone really believe the US isn't interested in bringing Assange to justice?

I think he needs to face court in Sweden for the alleged sexual assault on 2 females.
I don't care if he walks across the North Sea to get there.
Just what don't you understand about what Super Nova wrote?

Spot on! Reckless is another word I'd use.

He could have been more cautious. He took a risk without thinking through the consequences - that I will agree to.Rorschach wrote:There are limits to freedom of expression, publishing confidential information the way that he did with no regard for the potential lose of life to informers, agents and the military is not one of them.
