If there is a genetic tendency to "gayness' (as i have read at times that there is), then i do not suppose it inconceivable that there may also be a genetic tendency to have these artistic abilities that happens to go with that gene by chance.

But experience tends to suggest to me that this is just a stereotype. While I have encountered many gay people in theatrical circles i have also encountered them outside those circles, and certainly not all actors and artists are gay.

I don't know, but there is a bit of a bias in our anecdotal experience, in that openly gay people are more likely to be vivacious, unconventional, or uninhibited... attributes that are also helpful for someone (especially men) to commit to a life in the Arts community... or "inertia design" and hairdressing.
