Baillieu makes offer to break disability impasse
Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu has made a counter offer to the Federal Government for his state to host a trial site for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
If the Commonwealth accepts the offer, there will be four trial sites around the nation.
Mr Baillieu and his fellow conservative premiers from New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia refused to sign up to a trial at Wednesday's COAG meeting in Canberra.
Victoria is now offering $17 million over three years and a one-off facilitation payment of $25 million.
Mr Baillieu says he has increased the amount Victoria is prepared to spend and now expects the trial will start in July next year, the same time as the other three trial sites.
"Today I have written to the Prime Minister with an offer I expect will secure and NDIS trial for the Geelong region," he said.

That is more money than Vic was asked for which was $40m over 3 years.

Aren't there serious problems with the costing of this scheme? As quick as the Lib states have been in sacking staff - now they want to employ more staff? You have to wonder why. Administration costs to enable the NDIS will take 66% of the budget. It's not viable - for the Federal government at least.

Julia botched another policy, ignored the productivity recommendation and tried to blame the states because she has sent the Feds broke.
If she stopped the illegal immigrants by using proven policies the NDIS could be paid for in full

Errrrrrrrrrr no I don’t!
Gillard wanted trial sites and 4 states now are offering trial sites and funding part of the trial. Gillard won, pretty comprehensively.

Exactly. Nobody knows what the NDIS is. If it is supposed to be a NATIONAL thing, why is Gillard wanting the states and territories to contribute?
