What is trust.
When I was a kid, I trusted my mother and father...
Why...
Because they were my mother and father....silly question....
BUT..
When I started looking to buy my first car my father said...
Dont take any notice of the salesmen...dont trust them...
I said ...why not...
He said...
Theyre just trying to sell you a car...
Interestingly, he pointed out a few things which they would say..
Strangely enough....the salesmen all seemed to repeat those things...
Later on in life I trusted my doctor, dentist and family members...
The point I am making is this....
TRUST is dependent on who is giving the advice..guidance..information..etc etc...
If we dont trust that person, it doesnt matter what the advice is...we wont accept it...
This is a huge problem in Australia at the moment...
We dont know who to trust...
AS my lawyer once said to me many years ago...
William, it doesnt matter how much advice we give clients, the client then has to decide
himself whether to accept that advice...
Acceptance of that advice is based on one thing and one thing only......
TRUST.....
Of course, if we receive conflicting advice from different sources
we suddenly have...
CONFUSION...
Who then do we trust...
Why...

The only person we should fully trust when it comes to our bodies is ourselves. Read, research, evaluate and then trust yourself to make the best decision for you!
Years ago one of the top medical specialists in Australia at the time told me never to take anyone's word as gospel and always seek other opinions before making a medical decision.

While there are people who I trust to have my best interests in mind, that doesn't mean I always trust their judgment. Sometimes my trust is based on their based on their experience. Hopefully, I can find somebody I trust in both ways.

Re: What is trust.
I have found that there are a group of people I learned the hard way never to trust again. Anyone who displays their deep faith in Christianity is a liar and a thief. Somehow they never disappoint whether they are contractors of fellow workers, they are not Christian or moral people. They just use it to gain trust to take advantage of others.
Financial Advisors use the words "we are Fiduciaries" but it doesn't mean what we think. It means they are not going to steal the assets in your retirement. They sell you what they control and if you are a poor manager of your money they may be exactly what you need. My Advisors were much more interested in getting me on a budget than helping my account grow! I talked with other Advisors and one wanted one and a half percent of the balance every year to manage my account whether I make anything or lost value. Now I just do it myself, I own Stock and have an interest bearing account at about an equal mix. I do much better on my own than I ever did with help!

Taxpayers are the modern equivalent of Hebrew slaves building the pyramids for the Egyptian political class.

Well, after starting this thread way back in April, I wonder now if any Australians
have had their trust in our state and federal politicians and their respective
chief medical officers shaken by events since then...
On a scale of 1 to 10...tell me if your trust in politicians has gone up or
down and by how much....
The interesting point is that in the USA, as indicated by the above mentioned
link....trust in politicians seems to be pretty much a big fat zero...
What, pray tell would be so different in Australia....answer....nothing..
Could it be why there are so many protests throughout the world against
restrictions and lockdowns....
I was always taught that trust was earned....
However politicians dont earn it...they just demand it...
Remember the old saying...how do you know when a politician is lying...
...his lips are moving....or....he's speaking....
They sneak in with the humans sometimes, dont they...

I've never trusted them anyway so nothing much has changed with me.

Same here. Medical people may have the qualifications but they do NOT know how I feel. Dr Google is very handy.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 9:48 pmThe only person we should fully trust when it comes to our bodies is ourselves. Re: What is trust.
Of course an extension of the subject of trust is the betrayal of trust..
Im sure all of us can recall if and when that has happened to us...
I wont go into personal details or details of encounters I have with
people who have experienced betrayal of trust...
Suffice for me to say that when it occurs, it takes a very long time
to get over it..if we ever get over it....
The trust of this nation is being placed in the hands of our leaders...
Needless to say, that trust has been somewhat tarnished over the
last 18 months...
Or should that read 18 years...or 28...or 38....
Aah well....moving right along....
Delightful to see Speers serving it up to Haphazzard this morning..
