Years ago when I was living in Melbourne, I would get DOSed and hacked and spied-on on a regular basis.
I would complain to big authorities, and they would retort “who are you”, and got laughed at and refused even the ability to actually lodge a complaint. This is to say, most authorities were in complete denial, and really couldn't care less.
Look at Huwaie
As it turns out, Australia has been widely hacked and spied on. So badly, that if the government let the real facts out, there would be a riot.
People who are savvy, are sure there is a wider problem of spying and hacking than the government will allows us to say.
In my view, all important national data should be airgapped. Things like courts, water suppliers, electricity plants, hospitals, in fact anything at all that matters.
But this is not the case. The true reality, is that Australia is wide open, widely viewed by spies and crooks, and socially very very exposed.
Any electronic device has what’s termed a burned in MAC number. It is the native ID of the device, its identity. There are other numbers in the machine, but this one is the most crucial. With it spies and hackers can find and see anything.
Your desktop printer, smart fridge, smart meter, phone, PC, all of the stuff of Net electronics has a MAC number. Finding this number, is the same as finding your letterbox. Pull out the mail and bingo, they have you.
Its that simple.
In the movie Red Dawn, people on the run note: “They have a list!”. Well hello, they have a list alright; they know everything. And they’ve known it for a long time.
But what do I know.

The governments should be telling the expert experts to AIRGAP everything that matters.
They should do it now, before AI takes over, and we all get chipped.

I do not understand how critical infrastructure is even allowed to be accessible to an outside network.
A great time to be a hacker. Must be fun.
